Description

This is my personal copy of YS purchased within a few days of release in January 1969. RARE - MONO

The labels are in excellent condition with spindle trails providing evidence of its use - which is not excessive. The disc surface is excellent with no discernable scratches - just a couple of finger marks. It plays excellent.

The record serial is PMC 7070 with side 1 identified on the label by matrix reference XEX 715 and side 2 by XEX 716. The lacquer number stamped on the playing surface run out is XEX 715-1 on side 1 and XEX 716-1 on side 2. additional identification marks stamped are as follows: side 1 mother number is 1, and stamper code is M indicating that this is produced from stamper number 4. side 2 has mother number 1 and stamper code O indicating that this is from stamper number 5.

The disc sleeve is black with no tears but some wear to the side and bottom folds and the opening. It has the unavoidable impression of the record.

The album sleeve is of external seam construction and its condition is excellent with a couple of lamination creases and is a little bent at top closed corner. It has two or three minor creases towards the open side. The edges of the sleeve are barely worn and the corners have minimal dog-ears. The spine is splendid. The sleeve manufacturer is not stated. A review encouraging 'people who bought the Yellow Submarine album to buy and enjoy the really wonderful "The Beatles" album' is contained within two horizontal red lines. The only downside is that it has the sticky label of the record shop from which it was bought - the long defunct Bakers Record Shop in Sittingbourne in Kent where I grew up!

One would be hard pushed to find a better example considering it is getting on for 43 years old - and has been in my personal collection for that entire period. I have now retired from work and have moved - selling only because of a need to downsize.

Happy to respond to any questions - and watch for other albums coming up over the next few days/weeks!!

Offered at a low starting price but have protected its collectability by setting a realistic reserve.

NOTE:

interest in this album may be increased by the fact that the back cover does not have "Patents Pending" in the lower right corner. I understand that this may be of significance to dedicated Beatles album collectors!!
