THE BEATLES - 'WHITE ALBUM'
1968 UK 1st **EXPORT** PRESSING DOUBLE LP
ULTRA-RARE YELLOW & BLACK PARLOPHONE LABELS
Produced in extremely small quantities for countries where Apple was yet to be registered, this is one of the rarest Beatles LPs in the world.
This is a first export edition, with the yellow & black labels is housed in its original top-loading '500000' series cover number.
A faint 'stereo' logo in the rear upper-right corner, most carried a 'stereo' sticker' in that position.
(This is the original cover in which the LPs were sold, I have not exchanged it with another example.)
This ultra-rare LP comes complete with its four thick-card photos and UK printed 'Garrod & Lofthouse' poster and matt-black, die-cut inners.
This extremely rare UK 1st EXPORT stereo pressing on the yellow & black labels: P-PCS 7067/8
All labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but carry 'Gramophone Co. Ltd....' rim texts.
There is no tax/price code is visible on any label.
Housed in a fully laminated, top-loading 'Garrod & Lofthouse' stereo cover, numbered: No. 0543406.
Complete with original matt-black inners, matt 'Garrod & Lofthouse' poster and four 'thick' card colour photos.
Matrix numbers: YEX 709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-2
Stamper numbers: 1/GL, 4/LG, 3/GMM, 1/GOP
Disc 1 Labels: EXCELLENT
Visual: VERY GOOD
Clean but bearing numerous surface marks which are mostly careless 'fingernail' scuffs with the occaisional light scratch.
There are two small (5mm) feelable marks on side 1 and each side has a circular surface mark dead-wax areas which does not affect the grooves.
The disc lies 100% flat on the turntable without any dishing or warping.
Audio: VERY GOOD
Played many times, some light groovewear audible on loud peaks. There is minor background during quieter passages but no major faults.
The occasional low-level 'click' can be heard on side 1 but side 2 plays better with slightly less wear.
However, there are no jumps or repeats or any other major audible faults.
Visual: VERY GOOD
The surfaces are clean but again bear numerous 'fingernail' scuffs and the occaisional light scratch, but no deep/feelable marks.
A circular surface mark is again visible in the dead-wax but does not affect the grooves.
This disc also lies 100% flat on the turntable without any dishing or warping.
Audio: VERY GOOD PLUS
Played slightly less than the first disc it is in better audible condition with very little lessening to the sound quality.
There is some light intermittant wear and a few soft background 'ticks' during quiet passages but no heavy groovewear distortion or any crackle.
There are no heavy sounding marks or any jumps or repeats.
Cover: VERY GOOD PLUS
A clean and strong example displaying minor discolouration with light handling and storagewear with no major faults.
A name impression is visible at an angle on the front panel but the individual number: No. 0543406 is clear and bold.
There are small stains to the lower corners but the top-opening edges are clean with light wear only and no tears or 'feathering'.
The rear panel shows some 'thumbnail' creases and a 3.5cm rub near the spine, but no marks or writing.
The inside of the gatefold is bright & clean with just the abovementioned small stains visible in lower corners.
The spine's laminate has split and is discoloured but the all the wording is just about readable.
