Description
Here we have for auction a most iconic album which belongs in everyone's vinyl collection - The Beatles White Album.
This is a November 1968 1st UK press stereo copy with full laminated gatefold top loader sleeve and embossed The Beatles logo with number stamped - see photos.
Both records have been ultrasonically cleaned in our amazing Degritter and the vinyl has come up spotlessly clean and shiny with some hairlines and scuffs visible on both records but no feelable damage. Sides 2 and 3 have some label surface damage - might be sticky label removal? See photos. Otherwise the labels are clean with some spindle trails visible.
We played right through to test which was an absolute pleasure. The White Album is a tour de force and demonstrates how Abbey Road was unbeatable back then. TWA packs a punch right from Back In The USSR which slams out with force and groove, through to Blackbird which has exquisite instrument detail. From start to finish there is atmosphere and presence with a warm analogue tone but with huge dynamic range and power. Forget modern reissues - they can't cut it!
The vinyl behaves well throughout with light background noise in some of the quieter passages but nothing that distracts from the enjoyment & NO jumping or sticking.
The gatefold sleeve is in pretty good shape for its age with no writing, tape or splits. There is some of the usual yellowing/ discolouration and corner rubbing but the sleeve is strong and robust - still doing its job. There is laminate peel to the spine area ( see photos) but the spine is still readable.
The original inner sleeves are present, however we have popped the records into brand new poly lined sleeves to keep the records pristine after cleaning - you will receive both. The poster and photo inserts are all missing hence the low start price.
Overall this would be an ideal copy for someone who actually wants to play and enjoy the album. It is in super clean and fully play tested condition ready to pop straight onto your turntable and blast out!
