Beatles White Album PMC 7067 7068
Matrices XEX 709-1, 710-1, 711-1 and 712-1
Lovely soundng pressing of this classic lp.
Record one is in very good condition. It is flat and clean and shiny. There are a number of light marks that do not significantly contribute to the sound. There is a little background crackle in places. It is not throughout but can be heard very faintly during Dear Prudence. Other than that the sound is lovely.
Record two is conservatively graded good. It is flat but side 4 has lost some of its shine and may benefit from a clean. Again there are a number of light marks that do not significantly affect the sound. There is, however, a long feelable mark on side 3 during "Birthday" and "Yer Blues". This causes a click during birthday which is audible, but not hugely intrusive due to the volume of the track. The click is much less pronounced during "Yer Blues" and is not easy to spot in that track unless you are specifically listening for it. There are no skips or jumps on either disk. The sound is at least very good but visually I am grading it good to be on the safe side.
The labels are in excellent condition. They have the "sold in the UK..." text indicating a first pressing. There are a number of spindle marks indicating that the lps have been well played but they are completely free from writing, tears, marks and stickers.
The cover is in excellent condition. It is numbered 0141198 and has the opening for the lps on the top, again indicating a first pressing. Ther is some light creasing/rippling and a little laminate split on the spine (typical of this lp). Other than that it is superb. The openings are crisp and the flaps are completely intact.
The poster, pictures and black inners are all present and for the most part in excellent condition. The exception is the second inner which has a split and some wear hence it is graded very good. There is some light foxing to the poster and some very light corner bumping to a couple of the photos. Other than that the extras are faultless.
This is not a copy that would satisfy the most exacting of collectors but neither is it just a collection filler. It is more than playable and even the light crackle and the click during "Birthday" will not distract many listeners from the music. Happy bidding.
Low start, no reserve and free UK P&P.
