THE BEATLES - 'DAY TRIPPER'/'WE CAN WORK IT OUT'
Promoted as a double 'A' side, this 1st UK pressing, dates from December 1965 release on the black & silver Parlophone label: R 5389
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text and have upper case 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd...' rim texts.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the 'Day Tripper' label & in both run-outs only.
The 'Day Tripper' label bears an unusual small sticker: 'SAMPLE RECORD NOT FOR SALE. RELEASE DATE 3rd DECEMBER' (the disc's original release date).
Matrix numbers: 7XCE 18341-4 & 7XCE 18342-1.
Stamper codes: 2/ROR & 3/RAT
The disc is housed within its original green & white 'Fran the Fan' Parlophone company sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: NEAR MINT
Both are in immaculate condition with just a small mark from the factory around the 'Day Tripper' centre hole, but no spindle trails or wear to either.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Factory-fresh, unmarked playing surfaces which apart from a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines visible directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp, are as immaculate as the day there were pressed.
Sound Quality: NEAR MINT
This disc shows no signs of play whatsoever and has the sound quality to match. Both tracks play cleanly & clearly, totally free from any groove/play wear. In fact, apart from a touch of normal/light background on the run-in, they are flawless.
Cover: NEAR MINT
Perfectly clean & flat with no dicolouration to the white areas or any creasing or folds. The disc's catalogue number has been written in the front upper left corner, but there are no tears or splits to any seam.
