Condition
Records
Both records rotate true on turntable without any warping. All 4 labels are in excellent condition with very few spindle marks. Side 2 label is “upsidedown”.
Sound checks carried out at significant volume with Ortofon MC25FL cartridge (2 gm load). All sides played less than 10 times – some only 3 or 4 times. There is no significant extraneous noise on the quieter tracks (‘Blackbird’ & ‘Julia’)
Sides 1, 2 & 3 have a few light surface marks. Play grading is excellent with clear reproduction, minimal background noise and no jumps or skips.
Side 4 has a few light surface marks & two small scratches. Play grading is excellent with clear reproduction, minimal background noise and no jumps or skips except for one of the scratches which causes soft audible “click” starting from 30 seconds before end of “Cry Babe Cry” thru to 65 seconds into next track (“Revolution 9”).
Inner Sleeves
These are matt black die cut originals with 4-inch diameter centre cutout in one side only. There is no writing or other disfigurements on either sleeve. There are a few creases but nothing serious. One has 4-inch rip on the fold in one side and the other has 7-inch rip caused, presumably, when re-inserting record plus sleeve into outer gatefold.
White laminated Gatefold Outer
This is an Original 1st Issue TOP OPENING, NUMBERED & FULLY LAMINATED GATEFOLD with internal fold back seams to the inside. It is a WIDE SPINE variant with a rare, sought after, early serial number 0066115. The front is in good clean condition with intact lamination except for a 4-inch light indentation, which has only just pierced the laminate for approximately half an inch. The reverse side is in good clean condition. The fold back seams are perfect without any lifting or damage at the edges. Inside, the lamination is excellent; there is no writing or other disfigurement. There is a track list on the left side followed by footnote text: ‘EMI Records (The Gramophone Company Ltd.) Hayes, Middlesex, England Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod and Lofthouse International Ltd.’. There is a B & W photo of each Beatle on the right side. On the spine the Title and Catalogue numbers are clearly readable in spite of the laminate lifting in a couple of places. The top opening has no tears or other damage apart from a few light dents. The bottom has one light dent.
Giant Lyric Sheet Poster
Excellent condition – as originally supplied with no writing, rips or Sellotape marks.
