Description
I believe this is the 4th UK pressing of this album (October 1970 – spring 1971).
The cover is the laminated white gatefoldcover without flaps and with openings at the sides. The front of the cover has “The BEATLES” embossed in raised blockletters. The six-digit number appears in gray on the lower right corner and is on a slight downward angle towards the lower right corner (see image).
The cover is in very good condition (see images) - there is a 1" edge crease on the upper edge of the inside of the gatefold (above the four images of the band) - there is also a small 0.5" crease/tear on the back cover, outer open edge - the album cover is somewhat discoloured / lightly yellowed, with minimal ring-wear and scratches. The spine is in very good condition.
The album comes with all the inserts (4 portraits and fold-out poster) in excellent condition - the Ringo print has a slight small crease in his hair (see image) but otherwise all these inserts are likely as clean as you will ever find anywhere.
The records are housed in the original Apple company inner sleeves. The sleeves are in great condition with only some minor discolouration around the outer edges (see image).
Record 1 (side 1 and 2) has the “An E.M.I. Recording” text on one line. Perhaps unusual for this 4th pressing version (assuming it is indeed the 4th pressing) is having the publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (P) on sides 1 and 2 (versus the larger (P) on sides 3 and 4). Matrix numbers: Side 1: YEX 709-1; Side 2: YEX 710-1. Please note that on side 1 the centre label has some "bubbling" throughout some of the song listings (see image). This must have happened during manufacture. Note that the vinyl of Record 1 is EXTREMELY clean (likely as clean as you will ever find). I have owned this album for over 30 years and due to the pristine condition of the vinyl I never played it (until today to check it before listing this album for sale on EBAY) - it played flawlessly without any pops, hiss, or background noise of any kind.
As per the 4th pressing versions, record 2 (side 3 and 4) has the “An E.M.I. Recording” text on two lines. The publishing year is printed with the big copyright symbol (P). Matrix numbers: Side 3: YEX 711-1; Side 4: YEX 712-2. Note that as per Record 1, the vinyl of Record 2 is also EXTREMELY clean (likely as clean as you will ever find). As stated above, I have owned this album for over 30 years and due to the pristine condition of the vinyl I never played it (until today) - Record 2 played flawlessly without any pops, hiss, or background noise of any kind.
