1965 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP

We have just been commissioned to sell a large and important private collection of UK Beatles records. The majority of listings presented this week are from that collection, with more to follow over the coming weeks. The collection contains some of the rarest UK pressed discs which are unlikely to come onto the open market again in the forseeable future.

This rare edition of The Beatles' U.S. 6th Capitol album was pressed in the UK in 1966 for EXPORT only with yellow & black Parlophone labels: CPCS 104

Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have regular 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

A 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 2 centre hole.

Matrix numbers: YEEX 112-A13 & YEEX 113-A15

The original Capitol matrix 'ST2 2451' in scratched out in the side 2 run-out.

Stamper codes: 1/R & 1/R

Disc weight: 160g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed stereo cover .

Complete with its original 'Patents Applied For' inner-sleeve.

Both of these rare labels are clean & bright with just a hint of rubbing to the centre and a little wear to the yellow 'Parlophone' lettering on side 2 but just a single spindle mark which is located aside the side 1 centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT  2. EXCELLENT +

Extremely clean & deep-gloss playing surfaces which in strong daylight display just a small handful of harmless light hairlines but no scuffs or other blemishes. Side 2 is unmarked. Close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals little more than a sparkling rainbow gloss but no other signs of wear. Both sides of this impressive copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This album uses the U.S. mixes, all of which plays cleanly and clearly with no trace of any groove/play wear on any song. In fact the only audible blemish I heard during my single careful play-check was a single light click at the end of track 1 on side 1. Apart fromm that minor distraction, there really is little else to fault sound-wise.

EXCELLENT +

A superb glossy and firm example which retains an immaculate unscratched high-gloss front panel with just a few tiny wrinkles to the upper edge but no 'thumbnail' creases or any other significant wear. All corners are square and unbumped and both opening edges are sharp and unworn. The rear panel is clean & white apart from two non-original stickers towards the upper edge. All of the flipbacks are perfectly clean and both seams and the spine are smooth, unstressed and completely unworn.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & flat with slight wear to the top edge but no writing, tears or seam splits.
