The Beatles –Please Please Me – Genuine 1963 1st issue UK mono pressing (1st mother) on the Black & Gold Parlophone Label, with Dick James label credits, catalogue number PMC 1202.
20th century collectables is pleased to offer for sale this highly respectable and very early example of a 1963 1st issue black gold pressing with suberb nr MINT audio. Original black gold copies in respectable condition, have in the past five years become increasingly scarce and as such provide the best investment opportunity of any Beatles 1st UK pressing.
This copy comes from one of the initial batch of 2,500 copies manufactured well before the March 1963 release date.

Audio: nr MINT
The record has the unmistakable powerful sound quality of a UK black gold 1st pressing and is free from any distracting surface noise, ticks or pops. At high volume most gaps play either completely silently or with the absolute minimum of surface noise, with one slight exception of three ultra faint ticks in the gap between ‘Ask me Why’ and ‘Please Please Me’. Certainly an above average copy. The record does not jump or stick.
Labels: EXCELLENT-
The labels retain most of their original freshness with no tarnishing and with all of the gold lettering undamaged and intact. There is some spindle wear around the centre holes but all in all a very respectable set of labels.
Visual: VERY GOOD
In strong daylight the record retains much of its original sheen and is in great condition for its age with only a few light non feelable surface marks. Under a strong halogen desk light the record has some superficial whispy sleeve removal and occasional light blemish none of which effect play or are feelable. The record is in above average condition. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Cover
VERY GOOD
This respectable cover is in above average condition compared to most. The vinyl comes in its original extra heavy duty 1963 Ernest J. Day sleeve with the Angus McBean credit in the extreme right. There is some wear and rubbing to the photo credit as it is close to the bottom edge of the sleeve; it is however still visible thus authenticating the sleeve as the very 1st UK issue. There is some soiling and wear to the rear panel however the front panel is vibrant and retains its glossy sheen with some moderate wear evident along the bottom edge. The writing on the spine is undamaged and is still clearly visible and intact. Most sellers would grade this cover at excellent or above.
Inner-sleeve VERY GOOD+
