RECORD AND SLEEVE GRADING:

MINT

RECORD VINYL:  Should be absolutely perfect in every way, never played or opened.

COVER OR SLEEVE:  Still sealed in original manufacturers packaging (Very Rare)

NEAR MINT OR EXCELLENT

RECORD VINYL:  Nearly perfect, should have no visible marks, no signs of wear. (May have fingerprints) Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a record store and removed the shrink wrap.

COVER OS SLEEVE: should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes or ink/pencil marks (may have original price stickers).

VERY GOOD PLUS

RECORD VINYL: may have slight scuff marks, very minor scratches or marks but will still play almost perfectly, with only barely detectable crackle or pop; a slight noise at the beginning is plausible.

COVER OR SLEEVE: may have the slight signs of normal wear, minor disc ring etc. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.

VERY GOOD

RECORD VINYL:  Record may have light scratches, may crackle and pop or make other noises occasionally, but not louder than the music. Labels may be marred by writing or have tape or stickers or their residue attached.

COVER OR SLEEVE:  May have normal wear such a ring wear and split seams, creases, wear at corners, edges, spine, and some ink or pencil marks. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.

GOOD, GOOD PLUS (G+)

RECORD VINYL:  A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. May have scratches, may have crackle and pop, may have significant surface noise.

COVER OR SLEEVE:  May have more than normal wear and tear, be somewhat rough, and somewhat worse than the very good grading. A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the cover.

POOR

RECORD VINYL:  The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing.

COVER OR SLEEVE: Is very rough, the LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon.
