Description

THE BEATLES - 'STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER'/'PENNY LANE'
(Plays: Keith West - 'Sam'/Dave Clark Five - 'Everybody Knows')

Such was the high standard of quality control at EMI, mispressings rarely made it outside the Hayes factory gates. Sometimes discs with reversed or even wrong labels escaped, but rarely did something so spectacularly wrong as this copy of Parlophone R 5570 escape.

To begin with, BOTH sides have 1st pressing 'Strawberry Fields Forever' labels. Not unheard of so far, but wait until you play it.....

One side of the disc plays 'Sam' by Keith West (released in October 1967 as Parlophone R 5651), whilst the other plays The Dave Clark Five's 'Everybody Knows' (released in November 1967 as Columbia DB 8286).

Matrix numbers: 7XCE 19106-1 (Keith West) & 7XCA 31658-1U (Dave Clark 5)

Stamper codes: 2/GL & 1/P

Housed within its original and correct green & white 'Miner's Make-up' Parlophone company cover.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

Clean & bright with a few light scuffs on one side but minimal spindle wear to both.

Visual: POOR/GOOD

Unfortunately this disc has not been stored or cared for properly. The side which plays 'Sam' bears many heavy scuffs & scratches. The 'Dave Clark 5 side is slightly better, but only just.

Sound Quality: POOR/VERY GOOD

The 'Sam' side is pretty much unplayable and sticks a number of times. However, the Dave Clark 5 side plays through without any major problems.

Cover: VERY GOOD

Clean & flat with the only significant sign of wear being a small tear to the rear upper edge.
