Description
In this auction:
· “SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND” LP by The Beatles
· This LP was issued June 1, 1967.
· It is Capitol Records MAS - 2653.
· This is a MONAURAL (MONO) PRESSING.
· In fact, this is a FIRST PRESSING MONO COPY OF THIS LP. We know this because:
1) “Subsidiary” is not in the label’s perimeter printing.
2) The Side 1 label has the shortened song title “A Little Help From My Friends”. (The second Mono pressing has the complete and correct title “With a Little Help From My Friends”.)
3) First Pressing Covers do NOT credit Maclen Music or NEMS Enterprises on the rear cover. (Later covers added this information to the lower right corner on the rear of the cover in vertical print.)
· The vinyl comes in its properly marked MONO COVER (MAS – 2653)
· The “*” (asterisk) in the trail-off vinyl indicates that this record came from Capitol’s Los Angeles pressing plant.
· “Sgt. Pepper” covers were not marked with any identifiers as to the location of the originating Capitol pressing plant.
· The COVER is in VERY STRONG VG+ CONDITION. Only some very light wear on the front cover at the upper center in the blue sky area, a small push with some light corner wear on the rear cover at the lower right corner, and very tiny pushes on two other corners keep me from grading this cover Near Mint. The primarily red cover slick with song lyrics on the rear cover has PRACTICALLY NO WEAR AT ALL, and this is a part of the cover that is most ofter prone to easily and quickly show wear! (Please check out the images and you will see how VERY NICE this cover is!)
· The VINYL is in VERY NICE VG+ CONDITION with some very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (with none of them “feel-able”).
· This LP comes with its ORIGINAL CUSTOM RED, PINK and WHITE PAPER INNER SLEEVE that has a 5-inch split on the bottom edge and a 4-inch split on one of the side edges.
· It also comes with its ORIGINAL THIN PAPER INSERT SHEET OF CUT-OUTS. This sheet has very light signs of handling. There is some age-spotting/foxing on the reverse. (It’s interesting to note that the THIN PAPER INSERT CUT-OUTS SHEET has more than 3 times the value of the THICK PAPER INSERT CUT-OUTS SHEET.)
· FIRST MONO PRESSINGS LIKE THE LP IN THIS AUCTION have become VERY DESIRABLE and HARD-TO-FIND in decent condition, and this LP is certainly that!
A VERY NICE FIRST MONO PRESSING OF THIS BEATLES’ LANDMARK LP to add to your vinyl collection.
