Description
The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
For many that venture beyond the occassional hit song on the radio and buy their very first Beatle album, it's usually Sgt Pepper.
The whole concept of the front cover, doubled with being a Gatefold AND with lyrics on the back was ground breaking in 1967. It probably didn't matter that the music inside was brilliant and out of this world. Perfectly timed for the summer of love, many consider this their finest work.
Original Sgt Peppers aren't that rare, there were plenty of Mono's sold in 1967 along with Stereos, but that was it. Very hard to find a 2nd mono press (without the Sold in Uk etc) and the one after that was the 1 Box EMI Mono which go for a pretty penny (please see my other auction). After that it was always Stereo. I have had plenty of 1st press Mono's in my time, and the mother stampers usually get quite high, which makes finding anything approching 1G impossible. These were first day releases and finding one in first day release condition 43 years after the fact would be simply a timewarp.
And finding a 1st day release near stone cold mint 43 years after the fact is exactly what I've done.

The Mothers are:
1 GT,M on side one & 1 GM,A on side two
The labels and vinyl are of one play quality and as can be seen clearly in the photo's, cannot be beaten.
Side 2 has a printing error of misaligned text which makes this unique also.
The Fragile spined double gatefold was always the first thing to go. This example has a lovely spine with no tears or laminate flaking. Unheard of. Cover is definately a 9.8 / 10 enough said. I've never seen better. Could pass for a brand new sleeve.
Complete with the original red and white Fool's Inner Sleeve, I doubt you would find anything like this again.
