THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1969 UK Y&B PARLOPHONE *MONO* PRESSING
**ULTRA-RARE MONO & STEREO COVER**
This ultra-rare cover features a bright but flawed idea by the EMI production department, who in late 1969 decided to put both mono & stereo catalogue numbers on the cover. Taking the mono cover, 'PCS 7027 Stereo' was added in the vacant space next to the the mono number in the rear upper right corner. However the statement 'This is a mono recording' in the text lower down was left unchanged.
They were without doubt issued in late 1969 housing either late yellow & black labels or '1 EMI Box' mono pressings.
It is not known exactly how many of these covers were produced, perhaps just a few hundred made, making it arguably the rarest UK Pepper pressing and getting so hard to find you see copies with the mono recording text but hardly any with the dual catalogue numbers.
This extremely rare copy is a 1969 STEREO pressing with UK ONE BOX BLACK AND SILVER LABEL PCS 7027
The cover is fully laminated with 'wide' internal 'flipbacks', bearing mono AND stereo catalogue numbers on the rear upper right corner.
Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper numbers: 3/GOL & 1/GPT a very early pressing
Complete with white patent application white inner sleeve and with unused card cutouts
Inserts Mint,Inner Nm,vinyl superb very clean no marks plays superbly so a near mint grade,labels near mint.
Sleeve almost perfect a couple of tiny lamination creases i small scuff to laminate on rear otherwise near mint superb lovely spine a really nice copy
