Description
I was bought this by my parents for my 10th birthday.
It is the ultra rare 1st press, that has no visual track line breaks to show the tracks on the vinyl, see photos.
The cover is laminated flip back and ultra rare mono as detailed on the rear cover, top left.
It does not contain any patent pending details on the cover, as denotes an early first run pressing.
Label is old style yellow and black Parlophone with;
"Sold in UK subject to resale price conditions, see price list" [in upper case] under Parlophone logo.
Matrix numbers on label read, (XEX 637-1) &(XEX 638-1)
Matrix numbers on run out groove read, XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1, as early 1st press.
Record sleeve contains the Cut Outs insert. [The red/white inner has been lost.]
The vinyl is in very good condition and plays without any jumps and surface noise except in the quietest moments, and is almost impercetible, but this is normal for vinyl, particularily of this age, 50 years next Thursday!
The cover is in good condition with no rips or tears. The front cover has some age related patina if you look hard enough. Similarily while the spine is intact and un-crushed there is some age related staining on it, but none of this detracts, rather it enhances and proves the age and originality of this album.
This particular mono record was only released in a very small run and as such is one of the rarest versions of Sgt Pepper and almost impossible to get. This is a genuine musical historical rarity which does not come up for sale very often.
I am selling the rarer records in my 50 year collection [Electric Ladyland, mono Ogdens ' amongst others] as its now time!
