Beatles’ Second Album 1964 STEREO 1st Press LA In Shrink OUTSTANDING NM VINYL
READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Vinyl--- NM/ NM. Both sides look VERY nearly unplayed.
Plates--- A5/ A5. VERY early 1964 stereo plates. So early in fact, that the Los Angeles plant machine-stamped star in both dead wax areas is the older 1963 style, made up of five wide points, rather than the asterisk from 1964, onward. This is definitely an early pressing.
Cover--- Excellent. Muscular strong seams and spine, all the way around. Front slick is still cream-colored, back is stark and white. A few small areas of light dirtwear. The shrinkwrap is torn across the bottom on the back almost all the way. A chunk of shrinkwrap is missing from the front cover as well.
Original price sticker of $3.68 is still affixed to the front shrinkwrap.
Labels--- NM, both labels. They look 1964-brand new, as though they were printed this morning. The specs in the photos are not dust, they’re reflections off of the perfect, shiny gloss. The tilted photos show much better, the outstanding conditions of the labels. NO SPINDLE MARKS AT ALL.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Darker blue (almost purple) Capitol inner sleeve is present and in good condition. Each side has a center split of a couple inches. 1964 sleeves were issued in a more steady, lighter blue. This sleeve is an old stock from 1963.
A generic white inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to further damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 5. Collectors know how rare the number 5 covers are.
Absolutely an astonishing copy. This one is your keeper, and I really hate to sell it! From my A-list, the new owner will treasure this one, for sure.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
