Summary:
No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!
Album Description and Condition:
RARE FIRST ISSUE **MONO** VINYL LP is on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK….’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the SUPERB record labels labels.
Side 1 stamped matrix: XEX 637-1 and Side 2: XEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 1/ RP and Side 2: 3/5/OO.
Both sides of the record label are in NEAR MINT condition, BRIGHT UNDAMAGED labels with beautiful clear bright Silver & Yellow printed text, each label shows nothing more than a few faint centre spindle trails, and small initials can be seen in the yellow Parlophone logo on each record label. (see scans of the record labels)
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in NEAR MINT condition, Beautiful bright new looking vinyl surfaces, it is hard to detect any surface hairlines, superb Vinyl surfaces.
Audio Quality:
The album plays superbly from beginning to end - A CLEAR, STRONG MONO sound with NO skips, and NO background crackle. (** please note that a light click can be heard on the intro to Within You Without You for a duration 6 seconds into the track**)
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL, First Issue, Flame Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain Patents Applied For’ to the bottom corner. This too is a STUNNING example, showing only mild creases.
The album comes with it’s ORIGINAL First Issue dark green Sgt Pepper card Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED near mint condition.
And comes in it’s ORIGINAL First Issue RARE WIDER SPINE Fully Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve correctly printed ‘PMC 7027 Mono’ to the reverse. The wider spine measures a generous 7 cms wide.
This sleeve is in Beautiful condition, the front, back, and the gatefold are very glossy and well preserved, the sleeve cracks whe opened and smells new, what stops this sleeve from being near mint are light bumps to three corners, and a laminate pinch on the front of the sleeve at the bottom right of the gate edge, otherwise the sleeve is in EXCELLENT PLUS condition. The sleeve still retains its high GLOSS laminate to every part, with NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, There are NO seam splits to the top and bottom edges, the inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is undamaged showing a small area of rubbing to the right hand flipback. The WIDE spine edge is CLEAN and FIRM and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
This is a SUPERB example of this Rare WIDE SPINE original MONO LP, 100% ORIGINAL and COMPLETE.
