Summary:
No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!
Album Description and Condition:
1967 FIRST ISSUE UK Parlophone MONO VINYL LP on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK….’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the record labels.
Side 1 stamped matrix: XEX 637-1 and Side 2: XEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 3 ATA and Side 2: 7 MRT.
There is a KT tax/price code embossed to the centre of the side 1 record label.
Both record labels are in SUPER EXCELLENT PLUS condition. A LOVELY FRESH, CLEAN, UNWORN Set of Record labels, NO handwriting or fading to the bold Yellow or Silver Printed text, and just a few very light centre spider trails.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in very nice EXCELLENT condition - all that is visible are a few very light wispy surface hairlines, and a couple of light surface scratches, there are NO scuffs or deep scratches.
Audio Quality:
The album plays EXTREMELY WELL throughout the tracks - A CLEAR, STRONG MONO sound with NO skips, a little light background crackle can be heard on the quieter tracks.
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL, First Issue, Flame Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain Patents Applied For’ to the bottom corner, which is in EXCELLENT PLUScondition, with light creases, NO seam splits or tearing.
The album comes with an ORIGINAL First Issue CARD Sgt Pepper Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED near mint condition.
…..And is protected in an ORIGINAL First Issue Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve printed ‘PMC 7027 mono’ to the reverse.
This is an IMPRESSIVE, VERY GLOSSY sleeve in excellent plus to near mint condition. The sleeve still retains its DEEP GLOSS laminate to the front, inner gatefold and reverse. There is NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, and REMARKABLY there only mild record indentation to the reverse panel, where the album has been stored. There are NO seam splits to any of the edges, just a couple of minor corner bruises to the top left and bottom right hand corners . The inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is in SUPERB near mint condition, and the two internal fold over flaps are UNDAMAGED. The spine edge is CLEAN and FIRM and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The reverse panel of the sleeve is also clean and undamaged condition.
A FINE example of one of the most talked about albums of the 20th Century, 100% ORIGINAL and COMPLETE example and hard to believe that it is in its 44th year! a nice example!!
