Summary:
No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!
Album Description and Condition:
RARE, 1967 FIRST ISSUE UK Parlophone MONO VINYL LP on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK….’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the record labels.
Side 1 stamped matrix: XEX 637-1 and Side 2: XEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 3/7/AHL and Side 2: 3/AOO.
There is a KT tax/price code embossed to the centre of the side 2 record label.
Both record labels are in SUPER near mint condition. A LOVELY FRESH, CLEAN, UNWORN Set of Record labels, NO handwriting or fading to the bold Yellow or Silver Printed text, and just a few very light centre spider trails.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in STUNNING near mint condition - difficult to fault the vinyl playing surfaces in any way. It is clearly obvious that when looking at the vinyl disc it has been extremely well cared for by its previous owner, as all that is visible are one or two very light wispy surface hairlines – hard to detect in normal daylight. Obviously, there are NO deep scuffs or deep scratches.
Audio Quality:
The album plays EXTREMELY WELL throughout the tracks - A CLEAR, STRONG MONO sound with NO clicks or skips.
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL, First Issue, Flame Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain Patents Applied For’ to the bottom corner, which is in VERY NICE excellent plus, with only couple of light creases and mild wear to the opening edges. There is NO splitting to any of the seams and NO handwriting.
The album comes with an ORIGINAL First Issue CARD Sgt Pepper Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED near mint condition.
…..And is protected in an ORIGINAL First Issue ‘Patents Pending’ Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve printed ‘PMC 7027 mono’ to the reverse.
This is an IMPRESSIVE, VERY GLOSSY sleeve in AMAZING excellent plus condition. The sleeve still retains its DEEP GLOSS laminate to the front, inner gatefold and reverse. There is NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, and REMARKABLY there is NO record indentation to the front or reverse panel. There are NO seam splits to the top and bottom edges, just a couple of minor corner bruises to the top left and bottom right hand corners. The inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is in SUPERB near mint condition – still creaks when you open the gatefold sleeve (AMAZING!!) - and the two internal fold over flaps are UNDAMAGED. The spine edge is CLEAN and FIRM and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The reverse panel of the sleeve is IMPRESSIVE with just a small laminate crease to the bottom right hand corner.
One of the FINEST examples of one of the most talked about albums of the 20th Century, that we have offered in a long while. 100% ORIGINAL and COMPLETE example and hard to believe that it is in its 43rd year! The winning bidder will certainly not be disappointed with this SUPER IMPRESSIVE example!!
