Summary:
Cosidered one of the most ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, original MONO examples of The Beatles ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ UK album in RESPECTABLE and COMPLETE condition are COLLECTIBLE - in fact they are becoming increasingly DIFFICULT TO FIND.
The album sold 250,000 copies in the UK in its first week, entering the charts straight into the No. 1 position, and maintining that TOP spot for a massive 23 weeks! By the end of June 1967 sales had topped 500,000. It is still, to this day, listed in the TOP TEN albums of all time.
Album Description and Condition:
‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone UK on 1 June 1967. The FIRST ISSUE MONO VINYL LP is on the traditional Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd label’ rim, ‘Sold in the UK….’ and ‘Made in Gt. Britain’ printed to both sides of the record labels.
Both sides of the CLEAN and UNDAMAGED record labels are in FINE excellent plus condition. NO fading to the Silver Print or Yellow Parlophone Logos, and nothing more than a few light centre spider trails to either side.
Side 1 matrix: XEX 637-1 and Side 2: XEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers are 4/MM and Side 2: 2/M.
There is an embossed KT tax/price code to the centre of the side 1 record label.
Both sides of the CLEAN Vinyl disc are in excellent plus condition. Very BRIGHT, UNWORN vinyl surfaces to both sides, with just a few light, inaudible, surface hairlines, but NO deep scratches or scuffs.
Audio Quality:
Both sides of the LP play SUPERBLY through ALL the tracks - A CLEAR, STRONG mono sound with NO clicks, NO skips or background noise and NO distortion.
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL First Issue Flame Pink and White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain Patents Applied For’ to one side of the bottom corner and is in very good plus condition, CLEAN and NO handwriting present, showing some inevitable light creasing/age tanning, and a 2 inch split to one of the side and bottom seams.
…..And comes with an UNUSED, ORIGINAL First Issue Colour CARD Sgt Pepper Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB and COMPLETE near mint condition.
The album is protected in a VERY GLOSSY, ORIGINAL First Issue Fully Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve printed with the MONO catalogue number‘PMC 7027 Mono’ to the reverse.
The Gatefold sleeve is in overall very good plus condition. This is a CLEAN and RESPECTABLE First Issue Mono Sleeve, which has still retained its GLOSSY appearance. The very colourful images are still RICH and VIVID. There is a small crease to the bottom left hand corner. The reverse panel is CLEAN and GLOSSY, with only mild record indentation, and small ‘bumps’ to the bottom two corners. The inner gatefold is in very nice UNDAMAGED exellent plus condition. The spine edge is in FINE condition and clearly reads ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’.
An all round RESPECTABLE, COMPLETE and 100% ORIGINAL example of one of the most INFLUENTIAL UK Albums of all time!
