FIRST TIME OFFERED this is in our opinion an EXTREMELY RARE, ORIGINAL Vinyl Pressing of THE BEATLES ‘SGT PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND’ made in NIGERIA.
The record label is in the same style as the traditional UK Black and Yellow Parlophone Label, with the main difference being that the word ‘Parlophone’ and the Parlophone logo with the words ‘Trademark’ are printed in silver rather than yellow. The quality and the vinyl weight matches that of the UK version.
The label rim is printed ‘E.MI. (Nigeria) Ltd’ with ‘Made in Nigeria’ printed to both sides of the record labels.
Both record labels are in RESPECTABLE excellent minus condition, showing some centre spider trails. There is NO handwriting or fading to the Silver Printed text.
Side 1 machine stamped matrix: YEX 637-1 and Side 2: YEX 638-1 (identical matrices to the 1967 UK 1st issue.
UNUSUALLY, there are NO stampers to either side of the disc.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in very good condition. The Vinyl is CLEAN and BRIGHT, There are NO deep scuffs, showing just some light surface scratches.
Audio Quality:
The album plays throughout. The sound quality is excellent. There are NO skips. However, the light scratches produce some light ‘clicks’.
The Vinyl Disc comes in an ORIGINAL Plain White inner bag printed ‘Made in Great Britain’, which is a RESPECTABLE example, showing light creasing, age discolouration.
The album comes with an ORIGINAL First Issue CARD Sgt Pepper Cut-Out, which is in SUPERB, UNDAMAGED near mint condition.
…..And is protected in its ORIGINAL UK manufactured First Issue Fully Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Internal Flip back GATEFOLD Sleeve printed ‘PCS 7027 Stereo’ to the reverse. (The sleeves were made in the UK and shipped to EMI Nigeria).
The sleeve is in excellent minus condition. The stereo sleeve still retains its original GLOSS, with NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, and only minimal record indentation to the front panel and mild corner bruising to all four corners. The inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is in SUPER excellent condition, and the two internal fold over flaps UNDAMAGED. The spine edge is CLEAN and FIRM, and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. The opening edge of the reverse of the sleeve shows a small area of damage that has been inked in by the previous owner (see scan).
