- Here it is: A beautiful example of an authentic STEREO Butcher Cover Second State album aka paste-over, ‘Yesterday and Today’, by The Beatles. Released in June, 1966 on Capitol Records this jacket has the replacement trunk cover pasted over the original that shows the band in butcher smocks with chunks of raw meat and decapitated dolls strewn over them. There’s no question about the butcher slick being beneath the trunk as the trunk slick is slightly mis-aligned showing a portion at bottom left corner! Some collectors believe that this adds value as there’s no doubt to whether or not it’s truly a paste-over. Small #5 beside RIAA symbol on back indicates the LA, CA pressing plant. These white jackets were prone to discoloration but this one is still very white. The jacket’s back is also remarkably clean. Seams and spine are intact too. An original stereo record is included and visually grades VG+ or better but has not been play tested. Comes with correct gold Capitol Records inner slv.
2 bonus items are included in this auction: A beautiful, hi-rez reproduction of the original stereo butcher slick and a copy of the recall letter which is from a 1st generation of the actual Capitol letter itself! These look great framed together.
