THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'
1965 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP
This extremely early 1st pressing copy from the first day of release is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1267
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims.
The 'KT' tax/price code is present in the centre of the side 2 label.
Housed in the rarer front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT
Both are clean & bright with some spindle trails & slight wear to each centre hole but no other faults or wear.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Superb clean, bright & gloss surfaces which retain all of their deep-gloss shines. Apart from a single 3cm light surface line on side 1, both sides are unmarked in strong daylight. Close examination directly beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals some insignificant wispy inner-sleeve removal hairlines but no other blemishes at all.
Play: EXCELLENT -
This early copy has received a moderate amount of careful play but there is no major deterioration to the sound quality throughout. My single careful play check at volume did uncover some blight background on the opening introduction of 'Drive My Car' and on the delicate 'Michelle' on which there are 2 clicks. Apart from that, there is little else to fault soundwise.
Cover
EXCELLENT
A fine strong, clean & undamaged example which retains a rich and glossy front laminate with a few tiny indentations but no creasing or 'thumbnails' anywhere. Apart from a small bruise to the upper right, all corners are square & undamaged and both opening edges appear untouched. The rear panel is perfectly white & clean with just a slight ripple, but no fingermarks, writing or missing paper. There is a small section of flipback in the upper right corner which has been re-stuck down but otherwise all are undamaged and fully intact. Both seams and the fully worded spine are smooth, unstressed and unsplit.
Inner-sleeve
EXCELLENT -
Flat and crisp with just some moderate age-toning but no splits, tears or writing.
- Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
- I carefully play every record I sell on a $5,000 Rega P9 turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
- All the photos in this listing have been taken by myself and are of the actual items for sale.
- All records are professionally & securely in custom-made record mailing boxes with the disc removed from the cover.
