THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'

This excellent early 1st UK MONO pressing dates from day-of-release in December 1965 and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1267

Both labels carry the familiar 'Sold in UK..' text & have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the centre of the side 2 label.

Housed in the rarer front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.

Labels: EXCELLENT +

A clean & undamaged set with just a number of small, well-aimed spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

This cherished copy has been well looked-after and carefully played leaving both playing surfaces clean, glossy and free from any major marks or wear. Its only significant visual blemishes in strong daylight are; a very light (non-feelable) hairline scratch on track 3 of side 2 and another slightly heavier one measuring 5mm at the end of the final track of side 2. However, only 1mm of it is actually on the track itself, the rest is in the run-out. Close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals no further marks or wear of any significance and both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This fine sounding early copy has received only careful attention from high-end equipment as there is absolutely no trace of any groove/play wear on any track. Even the easily worn 'Michelle' plays without any of the usual background noise or break-up so common on this album. In fact, the only audible distraction I detected during my careful play-check were 5 'ticks' which occurred together just before and on the beginning of the introduction to 'In My Life'. Apart form that, there really is very little to fault on this clean, warm and dry sounding copy.

Cover

VERY GOOD

A respectable example of this scarce cover variant bears moderate handling & storagewear, but no major faults. There are a handful of small 'thumbnails' towards the opening edges, a few laminate wrinkles in the upper right corner and a small bend the lower right corner, but no other significant wear. There is slight wear to each corner's extremity and a few small pushes to the rear opening edge, but no tears or feathering. The rear panel is a little discoloured from time and handling, but is free from any major blemishes. There is slight wear to the spine laminate (visible in the final image right) but both seams are unstressed and unsplit.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD +

Crisp & clean with some age-toning and a small hole in the middle of the centre window, but no writing splits to any seam.
