Description
Beatles Rubber Soul -4 / -4 UK 2nd Press Mono on the much sought after yellow and black Parlophone label.
After John Lennon listened to the 1st press (also known as the loud cut), he asked for the pressing plates to be remastered as he felt it was too loud. Consequently, this is one of the 1st presses that was remastered.
2nd presses are distinguished by the matrix numbers XEX 579-4 / XEX 580-4 in the deadwax.
Martix numbers:
Side one- XEX 579-4
Side two- XEX 580-4
The outer sleeve is original and in great condition, especially for its age. There are no tears, rips or pen marks. There is some bubbling to the laminate sleeve near the middle right as depicted in the photos.
Both Garrod & Lofthouse and Ernest J Day made covers for this pressing. In this case it was made by Garrod & Lofthouse.
The inner sleeve is also original and in good condition for its age. It has one tear on the right side. The severity of this tear is shown in the photos. There is also a stain on one side of the inner sleeve also shown very clearly in the photos.
The Vinyl itself is in great condition and plays very well with no skipping or clicking during tracks and only light pops and clicks between tracks. You can listen to an actual recording of the record by following the links below.

All in all, it's in great condition considering the record is 58 years old and it would make an amazing addition to any collector.
