THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'
GERMAN *STEREO* PRESSING* LP
This German 1st pressing carries -2/-1 stereo matrix, a combination which never appeared in the UK where 1st pressings were -2/-2.
This EXCELLENT 1st German pressing dates from release in 1965 and is on the white red & gold Odeon label: STO 84 066
Both label rims begin with the 'Alle Rechts....' wording.
The disc is housed within in a front laminated German printed cover.
Complete with an original plain white poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 178-2 & YEX 179-1

A clean & bright set with nothing more than some barely visible spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surface are extremely clean & glossy with no major marks or wear to either. Side 1 displays a few light surface marks consistent with a normal/moderate handling & play, but nothing deep or feelable. The only significant marks on side 2 are a few harmless stylus hairlines but again nothing which can be felt. Close examination directly beneath halogen desk lamp reveals a sparkling rainbow gloss shine and some harmless wispy paper hairline marks but no major signs of wear.
Play: EXCELLENT
This copy has received some careful play on good equipment and subsequently plays without any significant deterioration to the sound quality or any major faults. My careful playcheck uncovered no traces of any groove/playwear on any track. I did pick up a hint of light background on 'Michelle' & a few soft clicks on the band between tracks 2 & 3 on side 2 together with a few on track 3 itself. However, these minor blemishes do not, in my opinion, spoil the sound or overall enjoyment of this warm and well looked-after LP.

VERY GOOD
Constructed from much thinner card than its UK counterpart, this well-preserved example beear just light handling & storagewear and no major faults. The front panel is clean & bright with some light storage rubbing to the laminate and a few small 'thumbnails' but no heavy creases or wear. There is some light shelfwear rubbing to the corner and a touch to the front opening edge, a small section of which has been 'restored'. The rear panel is undamaged but hassome aged fingermarks and age-toning to the paper but no writing or missing paper anywhere. There is a small 2cm split to the laminate on the lower seam but the spine is fully worded & undamaged.
Inner-sleeve
EXCELLENT
Clean & white with a few faint handling wrinkles but no writing, tears or seam splits.
