A 45rpm record of "Cry For A Shadow" by the Beatles number NH 52275 on Polydor with "DELETED" printed on it, the B side is "Why (Can't You Love Me Again)" and it is Made in England and has a Polydor paper sleeve.
Cry for a Shadow" is an early Beatles instrumental. It was recorded on June 22, 1961 at the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, Hamburg-Harburg, Germany while they were performing as Tony Sheridan's backup band for a few tracks. It was written by George Harrison with John Lennon as a parody of The Shadows style. (The Shadows, who backed Cliff Richard, were the biggest British instrumental rock & roll group at the time of the recording.) The Beatles did not take The Shadows seriously. It imitates and even pokes fun at the lead guitar with typical Hank Marvin licks, the melodic bass fills, and even has an imitation during the second middle 8 of the famous Jet Harris yell. It is the only Beatles track to be credited to Lennon and Harrison alone.(Wickapedia)
I found this record in a second-hand shop in the early 60's I thought it would perhaps have a value someday so brought it and put it away in a draw where it has been ever since. It played well when I brought it but have not played it since, for one thing I no longer have a record player so I cannot guarantee the quality but I think the buyer will want the joy of owning such an early Beatles record more then worry about pristine condition.
