THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
This historic 1st UK MONO pressing dates from initial March 1963 release on the GOLD & black Parlophone label: PMC 1202
The side 2 label has a characteristic groove running 1cm inside the edge of the side 2 label. This was formed by EMI's old-style pressing machines which were being phased out just as this album began production.
An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.

Housed within a correct-type front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit positioned in the extreme lower right corner, complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

The images tell the full story here. Both are overall clean & bright with the only significant blemish being a few small scratches on label 1.
Visual: VERY GOOD
Both playing surfaces are clean and retain a good deal of their factory sheen. There are several light surface marks & light scratches on each side but nothing deep or feelable beneath my fingertips. Closer inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp does reveal a touch of whitening to the groove on some tracks but adds no further significant or major marks.
Sound Quality: VERY GOOD
Like most, this copy has been played many times but is without any major audible faults. Some light playwear audible as light background during the quieter passages but my single careful play-check at volume found no heavy clicks, pops jumps, repeats or any other significant audible distraction on this historic, almost 50 year-old album.
Cover: VERY GOOD
This respectable firm and fully intact example bears just light to moderate handling & storagewear but no major faults. The front panel is bright & clean and retains a sparkling high-gloss laminate free from any 'thumbnail' wrinkles. There is slight corner and opening edge wear but no splits, tears or feathering. The exposed rear panel has some handling marks towards the opening edge with small crosses aside the track-listing. There is also a faint red mark in the upper right corner area. All of the delicate flipbacks are present and fully intact and both seams are smooth and unworn with no flaking or missing laminate.
The spine is clean, fully laminated and unworn with perfect unworn text.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +
Clean & flat with some gentle storage wrinkling but no writing, seam splits or tears.
