So let's be honest here....how often can we truly say we're playing a 1963 original that plays close on NearMint...I would argue it is very very unusual...because the odds are very much stacked against you. So, a nearmint copy [truly] is very unusual --- but WHY is it important? Because this is a nearmaster copy from those pristine early masters -- when the 1 or 2 copies that surface 60years later in practically the same shape they were in 60 years ago - this is a VERY unusual chance to bag a TRUE mono nearmaster copy of one the 20th century greatest titles.... ...So I would argue this makes a copy like this IMPORTANT and pretty unusual.
An original 4th press on Uk Parlophone from summer 1963. Matrix 1/1. Excellent value for money and every bit the equal of a 1st press for audio. No sold in uk stmt...but does have recording 1st published. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in the original EjDay cover. The original inner is included too.
Vinyl (Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen lightest use. Take a look at those label shots[!]. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+level of playback WITHOUT RESERVATION. As I mention above...sit back and think about it for a moment....will you get MANY chances to snag a copy like this..? .For the ultimate audio enthusiast. Intros and inbetweens are stone cold quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity and maximum ambience. A great copy by any measure - the delivery is clean THROUGHOUT....It's the closest you can really get to plugging into the main desk in '63 and getting a direct feed. The resolving potential is quite frankly staggering...deep deep into the mix....Those fussy numbers often play "ok" --- but why not snag a copy that plays them perfectly with full scope and resolution?... Good? No...No....ABSOLUTELY GREAT...you could spend a whole month looking and you MIGHT equal it...there is NO GOING BETTER. Seriously - if u want a show-stopper then this is the level you need to attain.
Cover (Vg+) ok so i happen to think this cover is in excellent condition for the vintage. Very nice clean and flat front with a rear which has avoided much ageing. But there are two noticeable issues. 1 one corner is a bit creased. And there is an odd looking blemish slap bank in the middle of the rear. Do we wish it wasn't there?...'yes' obviously....but take a look at other '63 examples...overall this cover is much better looking than average.. given the quality and the amazing disc inside..i feel this can be accepted as a relatively trivial issue [overall]. Spine 90% intact.
