THE BEATLES: **RARE VARIANT** 'PLEASE PLEASE ME' - RARE 1964 UK **5th STEREO PRESSING** LP ON THE BLACK AND YELLOW PARLOPHONE LABEL - PCS 3042 - **WITH** SOLD IN UK LABEL TEXT AND PARLOPHONE RIM!
This is Rare - How many times have you seen this SCARCE **STEREO 5th Pressing**, issued in 1964, of The Beatles debut album on the Black and Yellow Parlophone Label With both 'Sold in UK', and 'Recording First Published 1963' label text AND displaying the 'Parlophone Co Ltd label'?
All copies that we have seen in stock before omit the wording 'Sold in UK' label text as the 'Sold in UK' statement was introduced in 1964. Most later issues of the Please Please Me album, have the 'Gramophone Co Ltd' label rim, but this one has the 'Parlophone Co Ltd' label text, which indicates it to be a slightly earlier pressing.
The Side 1 Matrix is YEX 94-1, and the side 2 Matrix is YEX 95-1. The side 1 stampers are: '1', 'RR', and the side 2 stampers are: '1', 'GL'. Another rarity of this variant is that it has a mid-sized 'stereo' logo to the front of the sleeve - there are three sizes of this logo, there is a large format which was used for early 1st pressings, then this mid-sized 'stereo', and then the very small sized 'stereo'. The Vinyl LP comes in its original Lined Emitex Inner Bag and is housed a Garrod & Lofthouse Laminated Flip Back Sleeve, with mid-size 'stereo' wording to the top right hand corner of the of the front of the sleeve.
Both sides of the Record Labels are in SUPER **close to mint** condition, BRIGHT, UNFADED labels showing only a couple of light spider marks. Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in AWESOME **close to mint** condition, FABULOUS gleaming Vinyl which has that just pressed look. - the sound quality of the album is TRULY SUPERB, with no skips, jumps or distortion! The Laminated Sleeve is in **mint minus** condition - the sleeve is clean, WHITE, and fresh, the colours and laminate are bright, with a lovely FIRM spine, SQUARE edges and corners. The reverse of the sleeve is clean and white. Please note that there is indentation to the top flip back on the reverse of the sleeve where the previous owner had written his name and address – all that is left is an indentation only as the ink has been removed.
Serious Beatles collectors will acknowledge that this is an EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND Variant and an essential gap filler of this Beatles debut album for the completist collector!
