Beatles Parlophone Rubber Soul Help! Revolver Oldies x2 Memorabilia + More Vinyl

A small collection of four original yellow Parlophone mono Beatles albums, three later EMI and Contour albums, 2 promotional shop flats for Beatles Collections 1 and 2 and 12 postcards featuring  a variety of vintage Beatles images.

The Parlophone LPs have obviously been well played and there are numerous marks and scuffs over the vinyl.  All playtested reasonably well, with crackling on run-ins and between tracks, and not too much noise on the tracks themselves.  There are a few pops and clicks but these play much better than they look which is often the case with 1960s vinyl which is typically heavier and with deeper grooves.  The EMI and Contour albums play up to VG.

The promotional flats: are in good condition, printed on very thick card with a few marks ands scuffs.

Parlophone vinyl:

Rubber Soul Mono PMC 1276.  Plays up to VG with visible scratches - generally a good clean sound, with a few background crackles, pops and clicks on I Needed Someone and Run for your Life.  Has stamper numbers of XEX 579 - 4 and XEX 580 - 4 and is referenced on several expert Beatles sites as being from the first/initial pressing of the album.  KT taxcode stamper on side 2. Sleeve is a strong VG, with the three-fold flipback cover with laminated front by Garrod & Lofthouse with the 12 LL code.

Revolver Mono PMC 7009. Plays G to VG with visible scratches, most noticeable on Side 1. Taxman has a couple of skips, other tracks play through with pops and clicks, more noticeable on Yellow Submarine and She Said, She Said.  Side 2 plays much better.  Has stamper numbers of XEX 605 - 2 and XEX 606 - 2. Sleeve is a VG- (only issue is some very minor light colouring in on John and Ringo's faces on the rear), with the three-fold flipback cover with laminated front by Ernest J Day. 

Help! Mono PMC 1255.  Plays well, generally up to VG with some light visible scratches - generally a good clean sound, with a few background crackles, pops and clicks. This is a 1965 issue with the same label text as the first pressing, the 'SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS' printed below the PARLOPHONE logo and has stamper numbers of XEX 549 - 2 and XEX 550 - 2 and no KT taxcode.  Sleeve is G+ with age related marks and staining, light ringwear, a good spine and the three-fold flipback cover with laminated front by Garrod & Lofthouse with the 6509 code

A Collection of Beatles Oldies Mono PMC 7016.  Plays up to VG with some light visible scratches, with background crackles, pops and clicks. This is the original 1966 mono first press with stamper numbers of XEX 619 - 1G and XEX 620 - 1G and KT taxcode stamper on side 2. Sleeve is VG, with light staining along the opening.  The three-fold flipback cover with laminated front is by Garrod & Lofthouse.

Other vinyl:

A Collection of Beatles Oldies Stereo EMI PCS 7016.  Plays up to VG with a clean decent sound.  There are some light visible scratches, and a few background crackles on playback. This was originally issued in 1976, the fifth pressing, with black label with two white-black EMI logos and silver print. “The EMI Records Ltd…” printed at the start perimeter print and “Made In GT. Britain” printed at the end of the perimeter print. Laminated “Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd” sleeve with small “stereo” on the front side.  Is in VG- condition with a seam split on the spine.

The Beatles with Tony Sheridan Contour CN2007.  Electronically created stereo. Plays up to VG with a clean decent sound.  There are some light visible scratches, and a few background crackles on playback. This was originally issued in 1976.  Sleeve is in VG condition with the top seam unglued. 

The Beatles Rock 'n' Roll Music EMI PCSP 719 Stereo.  Two record set.  Fully laminated gatefold sleeve, Parlophone labels with two boxed EMI logos on label.  Plays up to VG, with a clean decent sound.  There are some light visible scratches, and a few background crackles on playback. This was originally issued in 1976.  Sleeve is in Fair (damaged) condition with a tear across the back, that has been repaired. 

• I’m thinning out my personal record collection and will be offering a wide range of 12” LPs and 7” singles and EPs over the coming weeks.

All have been test played and cleaned using a record cleaning machine.  I use the established Record Collector grading system and grade as accurately as possible (a little tough if anything!).  Refer to the listing for specific descriptions and see Record Collector Magazine Grades listed below for more details.

All records will be well packed using proper vinyl mailers and stiffeners.

Record Grading Details (adjust up or down with + or -) 

Mint (M)

The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent (EX)

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good (VG)

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable

Good (G)

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc

Fair (F)

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
