READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles Mystery LP MULTIPLE ERRORS! One of the Worst Factory Botches I’ve Ever Seen.
Note to Newbies: When an album is referred to as being one-of-a-kind, this is an example of that. A Beatles record with the same label on both sides doesn’t count. THIS one counts!
This was a Christmas gift to me many years ago. It features the following errors:
Front Cover is “The Early Beatles,” back cover is “Meet the Beatles.”
Side 1 label is “The Early Beatles,” Side 2 label is “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
Features the label variation that was thought not to exist for titles prior to The White Album, which is the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer at the bottom of the Side 2 label.
Astute collectors will be able to figure out which Beatles album this copy plays.
This particular copy is featured in the “Error Pressings” chapter of my two-volume set of books, soon to be released.
Vinyl--- Solid VG. Too bad the previous owner didn’t take care of this copy. Both sides have light scratches only, none of which can be felt. Still plenty of new gloss left.
Plates--- P16/ P16. Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.
Cover--- VG+. Top spine has a ½-inch split. Light staining at the top right of the front cover. Back has some yellowing down the mouth. Otherwise, the cover is very strong.
Please see the photo of the spine in order to see that the title on the spine really is “Meet the Beatles.”
Breathe Holes--- I wish.
Labels--- VG+. Both sides has lots of light spindle marks. Otherwise, they are still bold and punchy in color.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.
RIAA: 12.
No Beatles collector can claim to have everything. Owning this copy in their collection will put them closer, though, and they will be the only one with that claim.
No other copies like this can possibly exist!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
