Description

The Beatles "Meet The Beatles"  Capitol T 2047  Mono.  This is an extremely unusual Beatles record.  It is a first press US mono copy with a blank back cover!!.  I have had this for a long time and have never had anyone who could tell me what it is for sure.  The front cover appears the same as a standard US Capitol Mono issue.  The back cover however is blank except for a small green/blue/aqua faded or lightly stamped rubber stamped numeral "1" in a circle approximately 1/2-3/4" in diameter.  The Record appears to be a standard US Mono issue.  One other thing that is unusual is that the catalog number appears nowhere on the cover.  The spine is blank and no catalog number appears on the printed front cover either.  Matrix # is T1-2047 - G2 and a very small 3 preceeded by a faint mark (#?)  appears to the right of the matrix # on the first side.  The initials "IAM" appear very small in a triangle on the second side separate from the matrix # of "T2-2047-T2".  The record is in vg+ condition(side one has visible scuffs and a small scratch which produces a moderate click between tracks 1 and 2 .  other than that, plays well with minimal surface noise.  Side 2 has minor scuffs and plays very well with minimal surface noise.)  The value of this package is of couse due to the unusual cover which is m-(beautiful!  very clean, crisp, and straight with solid corners and no noticeable ringwear.  As you can see from the close-up detail of the front cover, corners and edges are beautiful.  The back cover shows very minor ringwear, more likely soiling against the blank white cover which has a semi-glossy finish like an LP cover, not matte, like cardboard.  A little soiling and what may possibly be a few very small ink particles are all that are on the back cover other than the numeral stamped in the upper left hand corner as shown in detail picture.  I have been selling records for over 30 years and this appears to me to be just what I described it as- a true oddity, a mistake, advance copy, or promo, not a bootleg or counterfeit of any kind.  If you have any information on this or have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Due to the rarity of this item, special care in packing and shipping will be taken to insure it's safe arrival.  I estimate shipping costs to be $8-$10.00 US and  $20.-25.00 For international shipping and I would suggest insurance be paid as well.  Thanks
