I am a 40 year collector of LPs and 45s from the 50s and 60s. I have been collecting The Beatles UK LPs for 25 years. All of the LPs I have listed on eBay are from my personal collection.

I have also been an audiophile for 40 years (analog only). The unsealed LPs listed have been play-graded on high quality equipment (turntable, tone-arm, cartridge, pre-amp, amp, speakers, and subwoofers). My system picks up the slightest surface noise on vinyl; i.e., ticks, pops, hiss, and sibilants due to groove wear. The standard I have used in adding a record to my collection has been how well it played (no surface noise present) in addition to how it looked. Over my years of collecting I have continuously upgraded my personal collection of Beatles LPs to where almost all of them play as new. To me, this means quiet surfaces; i.e., no ticks, pops, crackle, or hiss in the music or the dead wax.

The outer sleeves/covers of these LPs have been stored in polyethylene sleeve protectors since I acquired them. I also removed the LPs from the original Emitex inner sleeves and stored the LP in a custom rice paper sleeve while keeping the original Emitex inner sleeve in the LP jacket.

I have used strict grading standards of the UK publication Record Collector. I will use a mint grade only if I know a record has never been played. Unless a record is sealed, M- is my highest grade. I have described the flaws, if any, on the labels, vinyl, and sleeves. All the LPs I have listed will play as good as, or better than, they look. This is a promotional stereo copy of the US LP Magical Mystery Tour released in 1967.  It is Capitol Records catalog # SMAL-2835.

In the mid 1960s through at least the early 1970s Capitol Records designated its promotional LPs with large, circular holes cut in the upper right hand corner of the LP cover. These promotional records had the same labels as the commercially released LPs; however, they were very early pressings. Often they were the first ones off the production line. The LPs were designated as promotional LPs by the use of a large hole cut in the upper right corner or small holes punched in the upper right corner that spelled the word ‘PROMO’ or ‘FREE’. This is one of those promotional LPs.

This is the most perfect copy of this LP I have ever seen. I do not believe it has ever been played.

As a promo copy, it is a very early pressing. The labels incorrectly credit all songs on both sides to BMI. Later pressings credit the songs on Side 1 to ASCAP and those on Side 2 to BMI. The inner slick of the gate-fold cover credits all songs to Maclen Music, Inc., BMI. It is a west coast pressing as evidenced by the words “No you’re not!” beneath the title of “I Am the Walrus” being handwritten rather than printed.

I acquired this LP in the 1980s from a local collector friend. He had worked in a local record shop where he had acquired it as part of a collection. It was still in the shrink wrap when I acquired it from him and he told me it had never been played. I foolishly took the shrink wrap off the gate-fold sleeve (assuming I would play it as part of my personal collection), put the record in a separate inner sleeve, put the gate-fold sleeve into a polyethylene sleeve, and put it into my US Beatles record collection. It has been there ever since and I have never played it. When it comes to records from the 1950s and 1960s I’m a mono guy and I have a mono copy of this LP so I have never played this stereo copy.

Because this LP is not sealed, I have given it a M- grade but I see no evidence on the labels or the vinyl that this LP has ever been played.

The labels have no spindle tracks, the spindle hole shows no wear, and the labels show no signs of wear or handling.

Vinyl: M-

Not much to say here except the vinyl shows no marks and no signs of ever having been played. It looks like it just came out of a record store in 1967.

Sleeve: M-

This gate-fold sleeve is as perfect as you will ever find. It has never been fully opened. As I stated above, it was in the shrink wrap when I acquired it and I have opened the front gate-fold panel only enough to see the Maclen Music, Inc. BMI credits and the handwritten “No you’re not!” under the “I Am the Walrus” song title to determine if this is an east coast or west coast pressing. There is no ring wear, no pushes, no marks, no creases, paper splits, or any blemishes anywhere on the sleeve. As with the record, it looks like it just came out of a record store in 1967. It simply has no flaws.

Each LP is carefully packaged in custom made LP mailing boxes with the disc removed from the sleeve cover. This LP will be double-boxed. The LP mailing box will be placed inside a larger box filled with Styrofoam material. Shipping costs include only the actual costs of shipping and the required shipping materials. Shipping services within the US are USPS Priority Mail and the cost is $19.00.

I will ship to any location in the world. Shipping costs vary widely outside the US. International shipping services are either USPS International or Federal Express International. For all locations outside the US please contact me for an exact shipping cost. The buyer is responsible for any customs or import duties. Shipping costs include a signed for receipt.

Satisfaction guaranteed. Notification of intent to return an LP must be made within 48 hours of receiving the LP and must be returned to me within 7 days of receipt. Shipping costs are not refundable and the buyer pays return shipping. A returned LP must be packaged in the same manner in which it was received and I must receive it in the same condition as it was received by the buyer.
