THE BEATLES - 'LOVE ME DO'/'P.S. I LOVE YOU'
UK 1962 1st PRESSING 45
This pristine copy of their 1962 debut 45 is a UK 1st pressing on the red & silver Parlophone label: 45-R4949
Both labels carry the 'Ardmore & Beechwood' publishing credit but OMIT the & 'Made in Gt. Britain' text.
An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the 'P.S. I Love You' label.
'MPZT' codes are stamped in both run-outs.
Matrix numbers: 7XCE 17144-1N & 7XCE 17145-1N
Stamper codes: 1/GD & 1/GA
This disc is housed within an original 'beach-striped' Parlophone company cover.
CONDITION
Labels: NEAR MINT
Both are perfectly clean & bright with no spindle marks around either completely unworn cente hole. In fact, apart from a faint blemish just to the right of the side 1 centre hole, both are in the same condition as they left the shop 48 years ago.
Visual: MINT
Both playing surfaces are pristine and 'as new' and free from any surface marks or wear. Even careful inspection beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp failed to reveal any surface marks or wear of ayn kind. To top it all, both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable.
Play: NEAR MINT
This copy shows no signs of play and has clearly barely, if indeed ever been played. My single careful play-check found there to be no groove or play-wear whatsoever. All the high frequencies are clean and undistorted and the warm and surprisingly rich bass response is a joy. Indeed, apart from a little light surface noise on the run-ins and extremely faintly in the background on 'Love Me Do', there is nothing else audibly to fault on either side. A very difficult copy to upgrade.

Clean & flat with minor storage wear, but no writing, seam splits or tears.
