The Beatles – White Album - Original 1968 UK stereo UK 1st pressing with original top opening wide spine numbered sleeve and dark green Apple labels with ‘Sold in UK…’ label text dating to the original release date of 22nd November 1968.
A respectable example of this desirable UK 1st pressing.
Matrix numbers: YEX 709-1, YEX 710-2 & YEX 711-1, YEX 712-2 Stamper codes:
3/TT, 4/HR & 3/GRG 1/GGA (1st mother stampers)

Visual:
Disc 1: Side one VERY GOOD+ Side two EXCELLENT
Side one has some light superficial marks consistent with general play and handling, however there is nothing feelable or what could be described as a scratch. Side two is in better visual condition and looks almost mint in strong daylight. Side two grades at full excellent.
Disc 2: Side three VERY GOOD Side four VG+/EXC-
Side three has some general superficial handling marks with the occasional stylus mark visible in daylight. Side four has some light superficial marks although none are feelable or could be described as a scratch.
Both discs lay 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXCELLENT
An excellent set of labels. There are spindle trails visible to each label. All labels carry the ‘Sold in UK…’ label text positively dating the release to 1968. The KT tax code is visible on side four. There is no writing or personalization to any label.
Audio:
Disc 1: EXCELLENT+
There is no groove wear or distortion to any of the music signals. There is some occasional surface noise audible on the quieter passages. Blackbird and Rocky Raccon however play superbly but I did notice some surface noise on Julia. There are no skips or jumps.
Disc 2: VERY GOOD+
There is no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. There is noticeable surface noise on some passages with occasional light ticks and pops. There are no skips or jumps.
Cover
VERY GOOD+
An original 1968 wide spine 1st issue top opening numbered sleeve which is well presented and in respectable condition. Not too much to fault other than some bruising to the top left hand corner. Much of the laminate on the spine has flaked away resulting in some discolouration to the spine. The laminate over the word The Beatles is very well preserved and unruptured. The sleeve’s serial number - 0286363 is clear and fresh.
Inner-sleeves VG+ to EXC-
Original 1968 inners.
Photos EXCELLENT+
A nice set of photos showing some ageing to the reverse, however I cannot guarantee that these are original 1st issues as they are on slightly thinner card stock.
Poster EXCELLENT+
An original Garrod & Lofthouse ‘lipstick’ poster. The paper stock has a lustre sheen, which may date it to later pressing although all the credits and fold lines are consistent with a 1st issue.
