THE BEATLES - SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
To celebrate the 50th anniversary year of the release of Sgt Pepper - 20th Century Collectables is pleased to offer for sale a stunning UK 1st pressing copy with MINT audio.
An original 1st UK mono pressing with black yellow Parlophone labels and 'Sold in UK..' label text. This advance order copy was pressed in May 1967 ahead of the 1st June 1967 release date. Side two has KT tax code. Original catalogue number PMC 7027
A beautifully preserved audiophile copy which has only received 3 or 4 plays in its 50 year history; an unusual and remarkably low amount for such an iconic record.
It is important to note that unlike the stereo mix and all subsequent re-mastered versions (including the 2009 mono re-issue of Sgt Pepper) the 1967 vinyl MONO mix is the only version of ‘Pepper’ to have been overseen and supervised by all four Beatles. Furthermore no version now exists of the original mono mix on any current format including re-issue vinyl. This is ‘Pepper’ as the Beatles intended and is the definitive version.
Matrix numbers: YEX 637-1 & YEX 638-1
Stamper codes: 1/MM (1st Mother) & 4/AM (early double digit mono stampers)

CONDITION
Disc
Visual: Side 1 EXCELLENT+ Side 2 MINT-
A stunning looking disc which appears fresh and undulled, still retaining its original factory sheen. Side one is in stunning condition with only a couple of light marks visible in daylight. Side two appears in mint condition in strong daylight even under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than faint whispy sleeve removal marks, side two grades at near mint. A truly wonderful disc which has received only 3 or 4 plays in its entire history. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable. A great example of this very early advanced order copy, most likely from the very first day of production in May 1967. Such copies with early stamping codes are normally found in the wide spine copies of Pepper.
Labels: EXC+/ MINT-
A superb set of fresh clean labels which are totally unworn. The silver text is as new. There are some faint spindle trails to each label indicating that the record has received very few plays in its entire 50 year history. The KT tax code is visible on side two. There is no writing or personalisation to either label.
Audio: MINT
Stunning and flawless audio throughout. Rich smooth analogue sound with all the clarity and detail of the original master tapes. There is no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. She’s Leaving Home is perfect and the run-in to A Day in The Life is silent. One of the finest, if not the finest copy of Pepper I have ever heard. A true audiophile copy which will not disappoint and the final upgrade for any collection. Needless to say there are no pops or ticks and the record does not jump or stick.
Cover
EXC+/ MINT-
A beautiful pristine unworn 1st issue patents pending Garrod & Lofthouse cover that still has a ‘factory fresh’ feel to it, retaining its original high gloss laminate sheen. With the exception of two faint thumbnail creases to the front panel, there is very little to fault. All corners are sharp, both openings to the gatefold also have their factory sharpness. The interior gatefold crackles as new when opened and is in pristine MINT condition. The writing on the spine is clearly visible. A stunning example and so very hard to find in this condition.
Card cut-out – MINT
Original 1967 cut-out in pristine condition.
Inner sleeve EXC+/MINT-
Original and fresh red inner sleeve by ‘The Fool’. There are no seam splits.
