Beatles LP Meet the Beatles! 1977 Pressing Blank Purple Capitol Label

Blank labels are so cool because they give you a small insight into an industry secret of how the labels look before they add any text.  Here’s a beautiful example of that.

Vinyl---  VG++/NM  Side 1 has a small soft mark that you can’t feel with your fingertip to the left of the label.  The photo is overpronounced, so that you can clearly see it.  There’s an even lighter one just below the label that is so light that my camera couldn’t pick it up.  Side 2 is NM unplayed-looking.

Plates---  H18/H23.  Jacksonville pressing.  Of course.  Weird Jax!

Cover---  Structurally very solid.  Spine has some cracking of the slick.  Early pressing of the purple label run, since this cover uses the construction of the 1964 to 1976 covers, where the back slick wraps around to the front, creating the seam on three sides. 

Labels---  Side 1 is VG++, with just a few stray spindle marks that you can only see under a bare bulb.  Side 2 label, the blank one, is NM

Inner Sleeve---  I’ve been storing this LP in a MoFi rice paper sleeve.  Those who know the rich sound quality of the purple Capitol run will understand why.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!) 

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
