READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

Beatles LP McCartney 1982 “Here Today” 3-LP Paul’s First Time Discussing John’s Death

Extremely rare radio show that features the very first time Paul had to discuss John’s murder after his “Drag, innit?” comment.  This interview was broadcast over three days, starting on Paul’s 40th birthday.

What makes this segment a fascinating interview is that Paul’s narrative now is that he and John made up their differences shortly before it happened.  But Paul gives a slightly different account here, which is a little more honest.  It wasn’t exactly that they made up their differences in this interview.

He mentions that their last conversation was very warm, specifically for the reason that they didn’t discuss the very sore topic of the cause of the Beatles’ break-up, and therefore John and Paul’s break-up.  And Paul names what that topic is.

Secondly of interest is that Paul now says that he and John were in New York for that final conversation.  But according to this interview, that’s only half-true.

The entire radio show is an interview with Paul, promoting his then-new album, “Tug of War.”  It is interspersed with Beatles music as well as his own.  The segment occurs on Side 4.

As with many radio shows, this one contains versions of Beatles songs that are slightly different, because they were mastered for broadcasting via radio waves.  Therefore, even though the songs are the same mixes, there are elements that sometimes cut through stronger than on the studio albums.  The example I wrote in my notes is that George’s lead guitar in “Let It Be” is noticeably louder in the left channel than on the regular release.

Now I wish I could play it!

Vinyl--- All 6 sides are EX to NM.  Only the occasional stray line appears.  Beautiful vinyl.

Cue Sheets--- Comes with 3 cue sheets that have not been filled out.  EX condition.  BONUS.

Plates--- All 6 sides are machine-stamped “Alshire,” and hand-etched L-10078.  After that, the plates are sequentially lettered A through D after the catalogue number, NBC 82-21.

Cover--- Generic black single-pocket cover, high gloss.  Radio show title is written in silver pen on the front. Gold promo stamp is on the back.  Original price sticker from the used record store is also on the back.

Labels--- All labels are EX/NM.  The sides 1 and 2 labels have been checked as having been played.  Record sides are configured for continuous DJ play without having to flip the LP’s. 1-4, 2-5 and 3-6.  Side 6 is blank.

Inner Sleeves--- Three generic white sleeves are present.  One sleeve is labeled, “Paul McCartney.”

This segment is an amazing piece of history before Paul had told the story so many times that it had morphed into his current version.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
