BEATLES LP
"INTRODUCING THE BEATLES"
RARE - Original 1st Pressing!
Version 1 MONO Column Back
Vee Jay Records
Officially Released on JANUARY 10, 1964
Vinyl Record is Gorgeous / NM-
(Not Perfect but close!) No obvious marks visible to the naked eye.
Any marks would need to be spotted in a certain light at a precise
angle. One of the cleanest play surfaces we have seen in decades.
Unless you come across a SEALED copy, it's doubtful that you'll
ever find one better. We must say that for an Original Authentic
VERSION 1 DISC, this one is a real beauty! You simply don't find these in such pristine condition in this day and age.
Jacket is VG+. (AUTHENTIC)
No writing, clean edges & spine, no splits. But most importantly, it's definitely
AUTHENTIC, passing the "HONEY" test (see photos). These covers
were always extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find in MINT condition mainly due to the type
of screening and overall construction by the manufacturer. Typically,
over time they have frequently been found with split seams or at the
mouth. This one is in great shape. There is some typical flaking along
the Front Bottom. Also has typical small cover marks by PAUL, also
throughout the Front Cover which is common for this LP. Colorization
is as it appeared upon purchase from the previous owner throughout
the Front and Back sides. The LP was purchased at an auction over
45 years ago. We present it here in the same condition we received it
at that time. That includes the gorgeous vinyl record and jacket, which is
structurally sound.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As everyone knows, the VERSION 1s were always a major target of counterfeiters.
So, to find an AUTHENTIC one these days is a real discovery. There are
plenty of well documented markers that identify whether a cover is either
AUTHENTIC or not. The most famous one, and one that has never been
challenged, is the "HONEY" test. Look on the back of the jacket, at the
song title "A TASTE OF HONEY". Look then at the word "HONEY" and
the letters "H" and "E". If either of these letters have ink missing in their
TOP LEFT CORNERS, this is a tip off that the jacket is FAKE. All letters
must appear to be solidly printed in order for the item to be AUTHENTIC.
This is unquestionably the definitive test. There are many other markers
so, if you still have questions, feel free to ask.
NOTE: In the photo showing the FRONT of the jacket, you see what
appears to be a crease at the center. It's NOT a flaw with the jacket.
It's ONLY a reflection of the fold in the outer plastic that is housing
it. SORRY!
Unless we have misrepresented this item, ALL purchases are made "AS IS" and
are final.
Contrary to popular belief, NO VERSION of "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES"
was EVER released in 1963. The official release date according to all Vee Jay
documentation was JANUARY 10, 1964.
There is no substitute for AUTHENTICITY!
OVAL Vee Jay Labels! This is one of the Best Examples of this classic LP
ever. Beautiful VINYL surfaces. Extremely Clean. (SEE PHOTOS)
This is the RARE VERSION 1 "MONO" COLUMN BACK" by the BEATLES.
Vee Jay Records Catalog #LP-1062. It was their 1st American Album released
on JANUARY 10, 1964 prior to Capital records releasing their 1st BEATLES
album around the same period only weeks apart. Due to the famous impending
lawsuit between Vee Jay and Capitol, the release of this LP was really a race
against time. It's a collection of tunes that were previously recorded in the UK on the Parlophone Label in 1963.
To put the word RARITY into perspective, it's important to note that only a grand
TOTAL of 79,169 VERSION 1 DISCS were ever pressed. That includes all of the
MONOs & STEREOS making even a MONO variation like this one, a RARITY
in its own right. When one considers a normal pressing for any original BEATLES
ALBUM was in the MILLIONS, consider what a pressing of 79,169 means to the
collector's market, how many of those have survived today and in what condition
can they be found in?
IF YOU WISH TO SEE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS, ASK PRIOR TO PURCHASING!
(As a SPECIAL note, only a grand TOTAL of 2,202 VERSION 1 STEREO Discs
were ever pressed and are normally priced these days in the THOUSANDS OF
DOLLARS).
The bottom line is that ANY VERSION 1 is quite a find, and nearly
impossible to locate these days in this condition.
VERSION 1 pressings featured the songs "LOVE ME DO" & "P.S. I LOVE YOU",
NOT "PLEASE, PLEASE ME" & "ASK ME WHY", which were later substituted
onto VERSION 2 pressings. Most VERSION 1s that are found today, are usually
trashed over the course of time, since its original 1964 release during the height
of BEATLEMANIA so finding one like this is quite RARE!
Side 1:
"I SAW HER STANDING THERE"
"MISERY"
"ANNA"
"CHAINS"
"BOYS"
"LOVE ME DO"
Side 2:
"P.S. I LOVE YOU"
"BABY IT'S YOU"
"DO YOU WANT TO KNOW A SECRET"
"A TASTE OF HONEY"
"THERE'S A PLACE"
"TWIST AND SHOUT"
These LPs are getting much harder to find in such beautiful condition.
We make no claims as to how this item may have been cared for or
handled by any previous owner.

REMINDER TO ALL PERSPECTIVE BUYERS: Pricing is based upon a number of factors such
as condition, edition, quantities produced and existing price guides. Some price guides in today's
market have not been updated for over 13 years, therefore they are not to be taken literally since
the market has changed drastically in that time, especially with respect to BEATLES Vinyls, most
of which have become much more highly sought after. The Rarest BEATLES Vinyls have become
more difficult to locate in prime condition since it appears that collectors of original pressings from
the mid 1960s, seem to be holding on to their collections more so today than ever before.
We appreciate your viewing our collectibles at this time and we welcome any and all reasonable
offers. Please keep watching as we continue to post more BEATLES RARE VINYLS in the future.
If you have any questions at all, please ask. Thank you for your attention and we look forward to
hearing from you.
NOTE: Although HANDLING TIME is sometimes listed as 5 DAYS,
we would normally make every effort to ship in 3 DAYS or LESS.
A Little of Our History ... We've been buying and selling Vinyl Records since the 1950s. Our interest through the years
has been collecting Rock "N Roll & Jazz Albums and all types of 45s. But BEATLES recordings have always been our
favorite to Buy, Collect & Sell. As Disc Jockeys back in the 1960s, we were able to accumulate many PROMOTIONAL
and other Collectible Vinyl Records, some of which are still in our collection. Since we're somewhat limited to the total
amount of items that we're able to list, if you are interested in any particular Artist, Vinyl Record or CD, please feel free
to ask and if we have it, we will be happy to list it here on Ebay for you to purchase.
Thank you for your interest!
