READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP 1966 Yesterday…and Today First Pressing STEREO in Shrink, NM/EX!
Not a paste-over Butcher.
Vinyl--- EX/EX. Each side has 95% original high gloss and shine. However; there are very light hairlines per side, and only two or three. One is bright enough to photograph, at the end of Side 2. Gorgeous copy.
Plates--- A5/A5. Among the earliest plates, this is definitely from the very first run. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.
Cover--- NM. Extremely well-preserved album cover. Looks pretty much as it did in the record shops in 1966. A slight yellowing on the back, near the mouth is almost undetectable. Price sticker still affixed to the front cover, upper right. Look at that price!
Inside cover still smells new. All seams and spine are brand new, muscular-strong. NO SPLITS. Not even almost.
Breathe Holes--- There are two breathe holes on the front cover, near the bottom. One is just below John’s foot, the other is due east, to the right of Paul’s hands, directly in the bottom-most brass hasp of the trunk lid.
Labels--- EX/NM. Side 1 label has some errant and light spindle marks, side 2 label is completely clean. Both are 1966-brand new-looking.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- NM. Yellow Capitol inner sleeve is gorgeous, flat and new-looking, as though it were just printed. NO SEAM SPLITS.
A rice paper inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 8? There’s a printed number (or symbol?) loosely within the vicinity of the RIAA circle, which I’ve never seen before. Looks similar in style to the handwritten 16 on some later covers, except it looks like either an “8” or a “B.” Definitely under the shrink, definitely printed on the cover. See photo.
Nobody’s going to blame you if you bought this one for yourself, rather than for your Beatles collector! And even if you do treat yourself, I’d still wrap it and put it under the tree, just on principle that it should be a generous gift for someone for Christmas!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
