READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

This week, there are 15 original pressings that other sellers had graded as NM, but fell more into the strong VG+ to Excellent range.  A few really do have NM vinyl.  Those happen to be duplicates in my collection.  Covers are mostly “meh.”  Average damage.

As discussed in previous auctions, MONO consignment pressings are far easier to find than STEREO consignment pressings.  In 1966, MONO was still outselling STEREO 4 to 1.  Therefore, Capitol requested help far more often with MONO discs.

“Revolver” is one of the harder titles to find in STEREO from a consigned plant. 

Vinyl--- EXCELLENT. So strong is this vinyl that some sellers would grade the LP NM, and you couldn’t blame them.  Under a bare bulb only, you can find some very fine hairlines.  Got to be good-looking, ‘cause they’re so hard to see. 

Also, the lip of the LP on Side 1 has what appears to be fingerprints in one small area.  I tried cleaning it off with a soft cotton T-shirt, and it didn’t come off.  I won’t try with anything stronger.

Plates--- A17/ A17.  First-run plates for Columbia. 

Cover--- VG+.  Jacksonville also had supplied the cover for this pressing.  Has the black border not found from any of the other plants.  Structurally solid.  All seams have minor shelfwear.  Front cover has some dirtwear on the left, making Ringo look like he has a handlebar moustache.  Paul’s nose is right in it.  A death clue, perhaps.  Back cover is still nice and flat, but has some light streaking flat against the cover.  Manufacturer’s defect? 

Labels--- NM/ NM.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.  Thin-cut concentric groove closer to the outer edge of the labels come from Columbia lathes.  These labels look like they were printed this afternoon.  Jacksonville in-house labels were provided for this copy.  Very small font, with songwriting credits having both first and last names.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG.  Original yellow Capitol inner sleeve is present.  Has a 4-inch center split at the bottom, and a one-inch split to one side seam.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 9

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
