READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP 1965 Rubber Soul First Pressing MONO Decca Consignment, NM/EX!

Stunning MONO copy looks dangerously close to brand new. If you are still missing an amazing-looking MONO Decca consignment for your collection, you’d be wise not to let this one get past you.

No upgrade on this vinyl will ever be needed.

Vinyl--- NM/EX. Side 1 glows 100% with brand new shine. Maybe a ghost line if you really scrutinize it. Side 2 has a few extremely light hairlines that I can see when it’s tilted toward a light source.

(**Fun Error Fact: Listen to “Norwegian Wood,” just after the line, “she asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere.” Count three of John’s guitar strums and you’ll hear someone cough in the background. This error was mixed out of all stereo pressings.**)

Plates--- P5G/P7G. No Capitol insignias appear in the dead wax, because this copy was not pressed by Capitol.

Cover--- VG. That doesn’t mean somewhere between lousy and destroyed.

Front cover shows light white spec wear/ring wear, back cover shows light yellowing at the top. Top seam has some shelfwear beginning to split, bottom seam looks pretty strong with just very light shelfwear to one side. Spine has moderate crackling in the slick.

Jagged hole in the top right corner, almost piercing Paul’s ear.

Labels--- NM/NM. Both labels look 1965-freshly printed. Labels are flat against the vinyl, and the concentric label ring is closer to the playhole, both of which are traits from Decca lathes.

Both labels are missing “The Beatles” below the title, which makes this the first pressing. Subsequent pressings added the band name to the labels.

Inner Sleeve--- VG. Original olive green Capitol inner sleeve is present. Sleeve presents as EX. But all three seams have small splits. Corresponding jagged hole pierces Peter and Gordon’s album in the top right corner of Side 1, and Nat King Cole’s album in the top left corner of Side 2.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: None. Most Consignment copies had no RIAA.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
