Record Description:
This is the SELDOM SEEN BLACK Parlophone Label Vinyl 45 for The Beatles DEBUT Single 'Love Me Do/PS I Love You'. This Black label variant was released in 1963, immediately following the Red Parlophone label version and in fact is LESS SEEN than the Red Parlophone label version of the same name.
The Vinyl 45 comes on the custom Black and Silver Parlophone Label, with 'The Parlophone Co Ltd' label rim in lower case, and with 'Recording First Published 1962', 'Ardmore & Beechwood Ltd' and 'Made in Gt Britain' label text. The Vinyl 45 comes in its original and correct Green Parlophone Company Sleeve.
Official Matrix and Stamper information:
Side 1 matrix: 7XCE 17144-1N/Side 2: 7XCE-17145-1N, indicating Ringo on Drums and No Tambourine Version.
Side 1 stampers: 'MPZT1', 'AD'/Side 2: 'MPZT1', 'RL'.
The embossed 'KT' tax code is visible on the side 2 label.
Both sides of the Record Labels are in near mint condition, a CAREFULLY PRESERVED Set of record labels, with nothing more than a few light centre spider trails. Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in near mint condition, GLEAMING, UNWORN Vinyl, with just a couple of tiny non-sounding surface marks to side 1. The Original Green Parlophone Sleeve is a very nice Example, free from any splits, tears or handwriting, and rare to find in this condition.
Sound Quality:
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc play SUPERBLY with NO skips, jumps or Distortion, and just a little extremely light background crackle. The 45 sits 100% flat on the turntable displaying NO dishing or warping.
In Summary:
The FINEST EXAMPLE of this EARLY RARE VARIANT that we have seen in a long time. SELDOM SEEN in this condition, not to be missed!!
