In this auction is a RARE ONE, for sure! 

Here are the details:

·       “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES” LP by The Beatles

·       This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062.

·       It was released beginning February, 1964.

·       This is Version 2 of this LP with column back cover that includes the cuts “Ask Me Why” and “Please Please Me” which replaced “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” which are on Version 1 of this LP.

·       The LP in this auction has the VERY RARE VEE JAY COVER THAT DOES NOT HAVE A COMMA IN THE song title “PLEASE, PLEASE ME” AT THE TOP OF THE SECOND COLUMN ON THE REAR COVER.  (This Version 2 Column-Back cover lists “Please, Please Me” WITHOUT the comma.)

·       According to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox & Frank Daniels (and I quote from page 127):

“The cover without the comma is rarer

and it increases the value of the cover”

·       Also, according to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, the VJ record that was issued in this “NO COMMA” cover should have Oval Vee Jay logos on black labels with color band.

·       BOTH COVER and VINYL are ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC!  So you can bid with confidence that you are receiving the real deal and not a counterfeit. 

·       The COVER is in OVERALL VG CONDITION. The front cover slick is nice and clean with light to moderate wear. The rear cover white slick with black print is nice aside from light aging/foxing. There is moderate wear on the corners with “bald” corners at the top and bottom of the spine. I “rescued” this LP, and I made the following repairs to the cover:

A)   A piece of the white rear slick was torn off at the top left corner that exposed the cardboard beneath it. I replaced that a section of the white rear slick with a piece of white slick from the damaged cover of another “Introducing The Beatles” LP cover that I had. (Please refer to image of that corner.)

B)   The top seam had very little wear, but the bottom seam was split for about 9-10 inches. I mended the bottom seam with sections of the damaged cover of another “Introducing The Beatles” LP cover that I had. (Please refer to images of the bottom seam.)

C)   I believe these are NICE REPAIRS to this RARE and UNCOMMON VEE JAY “NO COMMA” COVER.

·       The VINYL (with the CORRECT VERSION 2 OVAL VEE JAY LOGO for this cover) is in VG to WEAK VG CONDITION. There are a number of light hairlines/scratches/scuffs on both sides. A couple of these are slightly “feel-able”, so there will most likely be some audio distraction during play. The vinyl (both sides) still has lots of gloss! (While the vinyl is in lower graded condition, the value is really in the RARE and UNCOMMON “NO COMMA” COVER.)

·       This is certainly NOT a common “Introducing the Beatles” cover! In fact, this is issue without the comma is only the third or fourth one I’ve ever seen or had after almost 40 years of collecting Beatles vinyl, and believe me, I’ve seen A LOT of copies of the “Introducing The Beatles” VJ LP!)
