1963 UK 1st 'CONTRACT PRESSING' 45

**ULTRA-RARE SOLID CENTRE**

This rare ORIOLE 'contract pressing' dating from 1963/4 has not yet been officially documented.

The label details are consistent with UK 1st pressings and is on the black & silver Parlophone label: R 5084

Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have upper case 'Parlophone Co..' rims.

The disc is much heavier than usual EMI product & the edges are slightly rounded.

The 'KT' tax/price code is present in each run-out only.

Housed in its original green & white Parlophone company cover.

Matrix numbers: 7XCE 17559-1N & 7XCE 17560-1N

Stamper numbers: 3 & 5 (machine stamped)

The 'A' side label is clean & unmarked. The 'B' side label has a small area of missing paper which has been inked in, but it is otherwise undamaged.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both sides of this rare copy are extremely clean & glossy with no significant surface marks or wear to either side.
Close examination beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals a small number of wispy hairlines consistent with infrequent careful play.
Its quite a heavy disc in comparison to others Beatles 45s from this time (43g) and lies 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.

Audio: EXCELLENT

This copy has received some careful of play on good quality equipment as there is no significant deterioration to the sound quality or any major faults to either side.
My careful playcheck showed up nothing more than a touch of light background in the breaks but no groovewear distortion or any heavy clicks or other such distractions.

Cover: VERY GOOD

Clean & flat with just the inevitable light storagwear issues and the catalogue number written in the rear upper right corner, but no tears or splits.
