Description
The Beatles - Songs from the film "Help!"
I am pleased to offer for sale this exceptional copy of the Beatles' fifth studio album, Help!
This fantastic album is a much sought after UK stereo 1st pressing released on the desirable yellow and black Parlophone label.
Upon the release of Help in August of 1965 sales of mono records still far outnumbered sales of stereo records. Consequently, stereo copies of Help! such as the one for sale in this listing are much rarer than the mono equivalent. Finding an original copy in such superb EX+ condition is particularly difficult. Here is a great opportunity to add such a record to your collection!
Album Details:
Serial number: PCS 3071
Matrix number: YEX 168 - 1 / YEX 169 - 1
Stamper codes: 2 AO / 3 MT
Vinyl Weight: 170g
The matrix numbers confirm that the record is a first press. The mother & stamper codes communicate that the vinyl was produced early in the production cycle. Consequently the audio reproduction is superb! Take a listen yourself below.
The labels are the second variant evident by the small STEREO text printed above the 'Sold in U.K. ..' statement in addition to the asterisk being placed to the right of 'I Need You' on side 1.
The vinyl is housed within the original front side laminated Garrod & Lofthouse flip-back sleeve with mid-sized, outline 'STEREO' text to the top right hand corner of the front side.
The album is complete with the original polythene lined die-cut Emitex 'protect your records' inner sleeve.
Condition:
The condition report provided below is given as a guide only. I include high-quality, comprehensive photographs as well as a complete audio recording in my listings to enable you to make an informed decision on the condition of this record yourself.
Vinyl: EXCELLENT +
Labels: MINT -
The labels are bright, clean and without writing. No spindle marks are visible to either side.
Visual: EXCELLENT
The vinyl displays superb deep-gloss playing surfaces. In bright daylight one or two surface paper scuffs are visible to both sides. None can be felt. Under the glare of a halogen bulb a handful of wispy hairlines can be seen alongside an iridescent rainbow shine. A really strong example.
Sound Quality: MINT -
Please note: the eBay app does not facilitate playback. Please use the internet site to enjoy the audio clips.
Side 1:
Side 2:
As can be heard from the recordings, the vinyl sounds fantastic. The lead-ins are quiet. It is quiet between tracks. There is superb clarity and distinction. There is great channel separation. Other than a single pop on Yesterday the sound is faultless. You will not find a better listening experience - a true final upgrade.
The sleeve looks fantastic. The front maintains the original brilliant white colour. The laminate retains the original lustre. The rear is very clean. There is no ring wear. The spine is without wear. The top and bottom edge are without wear. The corners show very subtle softening. Top class.
Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT
The original inner sleeve looks great. It is very clean, has minimal discolouration and shows only minor creasing.
Additional Details:
Before the audio test was performed the vinyl was cleaned first by an Okki Nokki vacuum cleaner (using L'art du Son cleaning solution) and then an Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.
After cleaning, the vinyl is housed inside a brand new mobile fidelity anti-static inner sleeve.
The vinyl will be packaged outside of the sleeve, both of which are stored inside an archival quality polypropylene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
