Here we have a nice little rarity. An extremely difficult example to find.
As collectors of British Beatles records know EMI used both tax slugs on a record and
stampers on the run off to indicate the rate of purchase tax to be paid on the item.
What is not well known that they made use of paper tax codes similar to postage stamps. By the time this record was released was an extremely rare occurrence, on a Beatles record, hardly seen at all to the point of ultra rare.
This record has the following purchase tax information.
MT stamped on run off.(1 January 1963. July 1963)
PT tax slug on push out. (26 November 1962...1 January 1963)
KT tax introduced January 1963 indicated by Inland Revenue Papers stamp.
A rarely seen Beatles record with postage stamp style purchase tax indicators.
After 1963/64 these postage stamp tax letters disappeared altogether.
Paper KT examples are rarely seen on records, even rarer on Beatles records to a point
of almost being impossible to find.
From me to You probably being the last rare example of a KT paper stamp on a Beatles Record.
These Postage Stamp lettering are the correct letters of the date and were added as so
as to give the correct rate..
