This superb UK MONO 1st pressing dates from initial December 1964 release on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1240

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text and have 'Parlophone Co...' rims.

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 2 label.

Matrix numbers: XEX 503-4N & XEX 504-4N

Stamper codes: 1/GPO & 2,5/RRP

Vinyl weight: 161g

Housed in an outer laminated, 'Garrod & Lofthouse' (uncredited) printed, inner-flipback gatefold cover with outline front 'mono' indicator.

Complete with its original rice-paper lined 'Use Emitex...' inner-sleeve.

A pristine pair with just a small handful of spindle trails around the side 2 centre hole only but none on side 1. there is a little degradation to the yellow 'Palophone' lettering due to the ink used on this batch, but both are otherwise unblemished.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Pristine playing deep-gloss playing surfaces which are completely unmarked in both strong daylight. Even close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp fails to reveal anything more the some harmless wispy paper hairlines from the inner-sleeve . Both sides of this quality, heavy disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: NEAR MINT

A flawless & wonderful sounding copy of this much maligned mono mix which shines loud and clear on this barely played copy. My single careful play-check found absolutely no evidence of any crackle or groove/playwear distortion on any track or in either channel. In fact, apart form a touch of low-level vinyl background between tracks, the entire album is fault-free and represents one of the best copies you will ever have the pleasure of hearing.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

A superb example of this incredibly fragile cover which has been carefully stored in a clean non-smoking environment there past 47 years ago

The delicate front leaf retains a perfect unscratched high-gloss laminate with just three small spine wrinkles but no 'thumbnails' or storagewear rubbing.

There is slight softening to the left corners but the right ones are strong and sharp with no bumps or bruises to either.

All of the exposed edges are in immaculate condition with no tears or feathering to any.

The rear panel is just as glossy and is again free from any scratching, thumbnails, creasing or even a disc impression.

The inside of the gatefold is clean & black where is should be with no writing, rubbing or missing paper to either panel.

Both ends of the delicate central hinge are fully intact and unsplit.

All seams of the rear pocket are smooth & unstressed and the spine fully laminated and worded.

The spine is clean with a full laminate covering and is perfectly worded.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Clean & crisp with some light wrinkles from storage, but no writing, tears or seam splits.
