This UNPLAYED 1st UK MONO pressing dates from initial December 1964 release on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1240

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text and have 'The Parlophone Co...' rims.

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 2 label.

Matrix numbers: XEX 503-4N & XEX 504-3N

Stamper codes: 2/ROG & 2/RMT

Vinyl weight: 170g

Housed in an outer laminated, 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed (uncredited) inner-flipback gatefold cover with outline front 'mono' indicator.

Complete with its original rice-paper lined 'Use Emitex...' inner-sleeve.

A pristine pair with NO spindle trails around either unworn centre hole. Downgraded from NEAR MINT due only to some faint blemishes made by long-term inner-sleeve storage

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Pristine deep-gloss playing surfaces which bear no marks from handling or play. The only visual blemishes are some harmless faint marks from long-term inner-sleeve storage. Without those, I would have graded 'NEAR MINT'. Both sides of this extremely heavy disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: MINT

This copy has never been played and my single careful play-check at volume confirms the sound to be flawless and wonderful throughout, with not a single trace of playwear or any other form of audible wear anywhere. You will not find a better sounding copy.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

A spectacular example of this incredibly fragile cover which looks like it left the shops yesterday, let alone 47 years ago!

The delicate front leaf retains a perfect unscratched high-gloss laminate with just a faint bend across the lower right corner but no 'thumbnails' or storagewear rubbing. All corners are in great shape with just a hint of shelfwear bruising to the lower two but no splits or heavy bumps to any. There is a small bubble in the laminate net to the spine located just above the lower right corner measuring which is visible in the image above right. All of the exposed edges are in immaculate condition with no tears or feathering.

The rear panel is just as glossy and is again without any without any scratching or thumbnails or even any edge wrinkles, ringwear or disc impression.

The inside of the gatefold is clean with some light rubbing on the left panel & a faint line just above the photo which is certainly a printing issue. The right panel is clean and is black where it should be and is unmarked.

Both ends of the delicate central hinge are fully intact and unsplit.

All seams of the rear pocket are smooth & unstressed and the spine fully laminated and worded.

The spine is perfectly square and and uncrushed and retains clearly defined factory-pinched ends.

Tough to find a better example

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Clean, flat with some light wrinkles from storage but no writing, tears or seam splits.
